I have three and they barely played dress up, my youngest one did, and my two older kids did it a little bit when I used to baby sit full time, they would play with the girls I baby sat for. I remember dressing up as a kid. I got a Stewardess (flight attendant) outfit and I pretended to be a flight attendant all the time, back then they were called stewardesses still. The set came with a badge, a serving tray, and some cups. I would line up chairs in my basement like an airplane and pretend like I was serving people. My mom also used to give us her old night gowns and slips to play with we would put them on and play wedding ceremony. One time my friend and I pulled our money and we bought a real prom gown at a garage sale, of course we ended up fighting over who would get to wear it. Tell me about your dress up experience.

I like to say I never grew out of dress-up.
Of course when I was little I had a little box of dress-up clothes with skirts, hats, costume jewelry, and dresses. I also would raid my mom's closet and try on her dresses. (There are a few of them that I would still steal and wear!) I liked dressing up as a princess, but I don't recall any other occupations that I was particularly fond of. I think I dressed up as a doctor or a flight attendant maybe once...
As for never growing out of dress-up, I still love finding and making costumes for the Renaissance Faire and conventions. I find excuses to dress up. I absolutely love trying on prom dresses, and I wish I had more formal occasions that I could use as an excuse to wear the ones I've collected.

There just don't seem to be as many occasions to get all dressed up these days. Weddings, and maybe or maybe my husband's company Christmas party. I did actually get to wear my black velvet dress and pearls for his Christmas party this year. I will have to find another dress for next year though. I also presided over a wedding a few months ago and I got to dress up for that too. That was really fun because I had just lost 27 pounds and I got to wear a dress I could not have fit in to months before.

That sounds like it was really fun! I love getting all dressed up so much, and there really aren't a whole lot of occasions to get dressed up for. I think I might have to start inventing some!

I don't remember if I ever played dress up or not. I probably did if I had the opportunity. I used to love to pretend I was a nurse or a chef. My dolls were well fed and went to the doctor quite often! I don't really remember having any outfits though, although I know I dressed up for Halloween and such.

I did not have any personal dress up experiences but I endured many with my children. I have two girls and one boy and the one who dressed up most was my son. I have the cutest picture of him all dressed up in BDUs (battle dress uniform) when he was about five years-old. Oh how he loved to play dress up!

We did a lot of playing dress-up when I was a little girl. We didn't really have specific outfits, but instead we had a box of clothes that my parents didn't wear anymore. There was a little bit of everything in our box from dresses to leisure suits to lab jackets.
It was great that we used our imaginations as much as we did.
Today, my daughter does still play dress-up from time to time, but she doesn't do it nearly as frequently as I did when I was a little girl.

I remember playing dressup as a kid with my older sister. I had only one dress that was not torn or stained. My mom had a friend that made me and my sister some dresses but my aunt stole them for her daughters ugh!
Now that im a mom(twice) my 3 yr old is always changing into different dresses every time I turn my back!! she loves twirling around in them and looking at herself in the mirror! It makes me smile when i see them both acting like little girls! my girli girls, that what i call them! and they love it. If I wear earings, rings or whatever that ask me 'where's mine'?! Myra my youngest perfers dresses over anything else but sometimes they wear shorts or pants with sandals!

I never did, nor did any of my kids except the youngest does like it. They all felt very embarrashed too to do so during festivities or carneval. But interesting is my eldest does like it now. She is a model and making her own clothes as well.. even out of newspaper and plastic bags and she is a great succes and frequently asked

A lot of children play dressing up, and I think that it is a brilliant way to be able to explore themselves and other people around them whilst still in a safe environment. I always remember having dress up costumes when I was younger, and I would wear those costumes to my friends' houses whenever I went round and we would be able to make up games based upon the characters who we were dressing up as at the time. It is something that should be encouraged in all children as it helps to improve their imagination.

I used to dress up sometimes but not as much as other play. I used to like to pretend I was a teacher in school, or play cops and robbers. I remember one time my brother when he was young walked around in my moms high heeled shoes...that was pretty funny.
