The Avengers: Is 3D Worth Your Money?

Yeah! Finally a movie worth every penny, though I almost fell off my rocker (I do have one) when the price quoted for a ticket was a woppin' $15. Looks like more movies will be made in 3D. That's gonna hurt the old pocket book. But I would go watch this movie again. Many internal conflicts and resolves. And I have to say I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a movie. Completely enjoyed it. What's been worth your movie-ticket money this year?

ived seen the AVengerz both in normal and 3D cinemas... its an awesome adventure/action/superheroes movie...but the 3D is not worth it..not much frontal or out of the screen feel to the 3d here...

Really, I beg to differ. There were quite a few times when everything seemed close enough to touch. And I ducked a few times. In the beginning my eyes had to adjust because there was just so much detail to see, but I got the hang of it soon enough. But the price argument is a good one. I agree, $15 for a movie is too much and I wonder if movie goers will soon protest by not going.

No, I've seen quite a few starting with the ones in the 80's where we used paper rose colored glasses. With The Avengers everyone, especially in the beginning, were reaching out into air space because some pics came in so close. There was also a lot of furniture that came off the screen and I found myself concentrating on that too much so I stopped. Heh, maybe I'm just easy to please.

Unfortunately,All the cinemas and multiplexes around here only show full price mainstream movies..I wish there WAS a re-run cinema around here that would let you catch up on an "older" Movie.. So we only get the option of paying full whack or waiting for the DVD to arrive in a couple of Months..
Good to hear they'll run the 3D Movies at the Lower price...at least they're not skimping on the technology for the re-runs..

If a Movie's good in 3D,and I wanted to show approval by going again,I wouldn't mind taking in a 2D showing just to make sure it wasn't just the technical malarkey that made the experience the first time around..I was in with the Fanboys the first night it opened here..there was a kid a few rows down who'd brought along his toy Thor's Hammer!
I don't think anyone could say their fave character didn't get a fair share of the limelight in this Movie..and Hulk going "Bam Bam" got a big laugh..
Another one I'd re-watch,too..
Personally,I did think "John Carter" was worth the Money..but with the turkey time crappy box office returns in mind,I'm wondering now Who these people are that have made it now the Most Pirated Movie to download.. Those who DID show up to support it,or those who stayed away in droves and are only now catching on what they missed out on..?!

I think these days most of the movies are coming in 3D at double the rates of the normal movies. And what is worse is that these movies hardly have a few scenes that are created as 3D. I think the censor boards now need to be more stringent as to which movies can classify themselves as 3D as they charge more for these movies. In Avengers, I think there were a few good scenes which had the 3D effect, but overall the movie in my opinion did not qualify as a 3D movie.
Cheers!

I do agree that the price is just gouging us. The fact that a movie is 3D should not decide the price. It's still just a movie. Doubling the price is just a ripoff no matter how good the movie is. I like your thought about classifying what is 3D although I thought the Avengers was crazy good 3D.

That movie doesn't interest me, so you are asking the wrong person. LOL However, I have heard a lot of people say it's a great movie, and that those who are interested should go to see it.
Personally, I never go by someone else's opinion when deciding whether or not to watch a movie, because there will always be movies that interest me, but don't interest others I know, and vice versa. If I am the least bit curious about a movie, I go watch it. If I am iffy about whether or not I should spend the money, I wait till it comes out on video.

Sometimes though, you miss out on seeing it on the big screen. It's all part of the experience--the big screen, the 3D, the amazing sound. But it's true, we all have different tastes. It's what makes us so interesting.

$15, are you joking?!
I can't understand why anyone would pay that much. I'd wait a month or two and rent it for $1 from RedBox.
I haven't seen a movie in a theater for 4 years. I'm in Ohio and we have a BIG problem with bedbugs here, they've even been found in the theater where I live. So I do not go to movies! But the price of admission is not worth it, anyway. I'd rather wait a month or two and rent it for a fraction of the price of a theater--and I can go to the bathroom or get a snack without missing a second of the movie!

So the bedbug fumigator would have been not just hazardous to the bedbugs?! Was the contractor not aware the EPA had banned this stuff,or did they just go right ahead and use it regardless? Did it cause them problems having used a Banned substance?
I don't think I've been in a Cinema I'd have considered too loud for Me..the loudest it would get would normally be with the Dolby Logo test!
Fair point on being in your own space while watching in the cinema..

Going to a cinema to see a movie is all about the big screen experience,a classy sound system (and recently, new State of the Art Digital projection Systems)and a crowd of (hopefully) entertained folk around you..I can see where this bedbug thing you've encountered would be an experience killer, and put you right off, though!
Haven't they fumigated the place and done anything to encourage patrons to return? It can't have been good for business..

They've fumigated but the EPA has banned the chemicals that can kill the eggs as well as the adults. It'll be awhile before they're all gone.
I can see where a movie would be an experience but when I attend movies I'm in a world of my own and not at all interested in those surrounding me.
The one thing I truly hate about going to the movies is the volume. I always have to wear ear plugs or it's unbearable. At home I can control the volume! I love the huge screen, though, it really draws you in and makes you part of the action more than a television screen can and I miss that part of the movie experience.

Thanks for sharing. I have not seen it yet and wondering if it is worth it or not. We will definitely go see it this weekend if my husband wants too.

Hello my friend gtargirl Ji,
Well, I am noyt much interested in Movies , but still once I thought not to pay for a Tickety costing Rs.100/-(INR) for a temple like place in New-Delhi, but when we came out it was really worth and we were very much satisfied. Once one gets satisfied the money spend has no meaning.
May God bless You and have a great
