Not Rihanna, just a woman with umbrella

While the rain in the form of typhoons are pounding countries in the South Pacific, Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver in British Columbia, is experiencing sporadic rains. This, however, is to be expected in Vancouver, which, near the Pacific Ocean is often battered by excessive rain. So an umbrella is like gold here.

Vancouver Cityscape

You are in Coal Harbor, one of the city of Vancouver's jet setting neighborhoods. It's expensive to live here, especially if you own a yacht, although it helps you skip the mortgage, all you have to worry about is the mooring fees. On second thought, I don't know how much that is.

Totem Poles in Vancouver's Stanley Park

This is the most popular spot in Stanley Park, the city of Vancouver in Canada's western front. Lots of tourists have their pictures taken daily here. Stanley Park is an over 400-hectare forest preserve which has trees as old as 1,000 to 3,000 years old. This park is also the setting for the first meeting between British Captain George Vancouver and the aboriginal natives who used to call this place their home back in 1791.

Mountains near North Vancouver

This is the view you are going to get when you roam Vancouver's waterfront, which has one of the most picturesque natural harbor views in the world. Vancouver is part of an island which is called the Canadian province of British Columbia's Lower Mainland. As you can see, you have to take a ferry or a boat to get to North Vancouver, although you can also cross historic Lions Gate Bridge on foot or by car, and make a right after the bridge. If you make a left, you are surely heading to West Vancouver.

Driving in Canada

Now I'm looking at dipping in my pocket another $190 bucks to pay for the brush-up course and rent of the driving school car for Thursday's road-test and another $50 to pay the driver's licensing agency. Geez! Almost $300 bucks is bloody lots of money for acquiring license here in Canada. I thought of just dropping the idea of getting the license and move back to Australia, but I coached myself, that quitting is not in my vocabulary and convinced myself, I will get my license this time (and so I'm praying...)
