you sit in a quiet room and there are loads of things that are going through your head, as well as all the things that you wish you had said to people who are still here, as well as people that have died, well i am having one of those times.Every thing is quiet, which is nice, but sitting here thinking of how things could be better.

Trust me you are not alone in thinking & feeling this way. My Mom passed away 2 years ago. Now my other siblings seem to have come to terms w/ their grief but I'm still dealing w/ it. I have a lot of guilt inside me for things that I said in anger, for not calling or visiting her as much as I should have etc. etc. & now it's too late. So when my husband is at work & the house is quiet like you I sit & think about all of the should haves & could haves. Trust me though you don't want to allow this to continue. I did & I was thinking myself right into a depression, so now when I start feeling depressed, thinking about my Mom, I do something(anything)to keep myself busy. Whether it's cleaning, going online & chatting w/ family & friends, watching a good comedy or reading a book. Whatever helps you to distract yourself from your thoughts, do it.

Some people do not deal with that quiet very well. They do things like have television and movies on, or they listen to music constantly. I think it is good to be quiet and think sometimes, as long as it does not make you too sad and lonely.

I have had a good cry and to be honest i do not feel any better at all for it, if anything, i feel a lot worse. It is rare that my house is quiet and i will say, that it is only quiet when it hits 2am, the time is now 3.25 am and i just think perhaps it has been a while having total peace for me to think.

Friend, I wish you could get some decent rest. Since you cannot I guess it is good that you are visiting here.

It do not take the pain away being on here, but takes my mind of other things, rather than just sitting stewing about them.

I have some days like this sometimes too. I like the peace and quiet to be able to do some quality thinking but sometimes my thinking strays to things like that too.

I think that it is awful, that all the things that you should be thinking about, seems to stray back to the same old things and the same feelings come creeping in.

I tend to think that you are doing too much thinking right now. Perhaps you need to clear your mind and do some meditation. This will help get you in a better frame of mind. Let the think that could have been said go by the way side. You drive yourself crazy with what ifs.

Yes, it's best to think through about things during quiet moments. It's a privilege to have that little privacy because it allows us to clear our thoughts and mind. The world is way too noisy, hectic and stressful. Whatever going through our mind during those times, are never trustworthy since we only think about survival and nothing more. It's been a long while since i have quiet moments and i shall do it tomorrow since it's a public holiday.

Sounds as if you are a very reflective person, jugsjugs. I think it a good thing to occasionally reflect back on how we have lived our lives so that we can learn from our hits and misses. History is always a good road map leading into our future; and whatever mistakes we've made are merely learning experiences to help us grow, after all, that's how we learn.

I find myself doing most of my thinking like this laying in bed late at night. Sometimes I have so much going through my head I have a hard time falling asleep because of everything floating around in there. I over think things and stress out about things a little too much sometimes...ok all the time...so this keeps me from getting some much needed sleep some nights.

Yeah, i like peace and quietness as well because it gives me the right space to think things through. It's not easy to focus when there are sounds around, and even music is irritating when i'm not in the right mood. That's one reason why i like running in the wee hours in the morning, between 3-5am. That's the time where it's really quiet and i love to think when i'm running Together with the cool climate, i'm cool headed as well ^^

Hi Jugs i usually sit down and hold a pen and a paper so when there is something that i want to let it out, i write it down. it helps me to analyze my feelings, what makes me feel so and how do i deal with it. you can try to if you want to

I'm actually afraid of times like that. When it's quiet and you go on thinking of things that you should have done, or you should have said. To people that you love, or who are gone. I try to avoid those times. That's why I always keep myself busy at work and at home. And that's why I put the TV on 'sleep' mode. I just doze off while I watch some late night show.

Hi! That is really a good way to release our tension where we can let our mind free of anything, it is the best time to think again what we have done and what we need to improve but in a very relax way. I think to get to the stage, you will need a very quiet place or at mid night where nobody will disturb you, and you can just let your mind fly. I did that quite often where I like to think about someone I have long never see, someone that I love, someone who have been passed away for long time, recall back all the sweet memories, recall back all the childhood moments. That is quite sweet and nice feeling to recall back the good things.

Yes, that's why I would just sit in front of a computer and play games rather than thinking a lot of things that are past and often just a wishful thinking...

I usually hate it when it's quite, I turn the TV or computer on just to keep some noise around. I know how that feels though, and I know it sucks. I suggest you keep yourself busy with anything instead of doing that. Thinking of how you everything could've been better is really no use and will get you nowhere. I know how sometimes you just can't help it bu think of those things, that's why I'm suggesting you get yourself busy with anything.

Depends on how I feel. If I don't want it to be quiet, then I will put on some music, and if it is quite and I want it to be quiet, then I will hope that it will stay that way for a while.

I think we all need..and do have times of reflection! And times, it is hard to keep those thoughts from going to gloomy places! When I feel that dark blanket of gloom about to cover me, my out is my good friend..my photo album (huge)of my son's growing! 99 percent of the time, pictures are taken at happy times...and looking at the pics, remembering the moment the times..slowly lifts the veil of darkness..and I start to smile! Just my way of skirting the darkness!

Now that I a older I have grown to appreciate the quiet. I know what you mean about all those thoughts though. There are the what ifs, and the If onlys. Many times I have found myself building a whole scenario in my head and when I have played it all out it is still unsatisfying because it isn't real and I cannot go back and change anything.

I don't like spending time thinking about what I could have done. However, I would be lying if I did not spend more time than it is perhaps healthy thinking about things that I could have done. Things that I could have said. There would be some times where thoughts would be going to some rather unfortunate places, about things that could have been. There have been a lot of missed opportunities in life. Once they are gone, they are in fact gone. Missed opportunities to say certain things that you should have been saying. Missing opportunities to say more things. It is just one of those things where you just wish, but it is some area that brings you right off of the trail. If only we had said that when we had the chance. It was sadly not to be.
