This Just Doesn't Sound Right To Me

On Sunday morning, my brother was woke up by a phone call from the police. There had been a break in on our property. When he arrived at the apartment, there was a girl who had been there alone and he instantly went to her to make sure she was okay. She was very nonchalant about the whole thing and didn't act scared at all.
There were a lot of strange things about this break in. Our apartments have 3 bedrooms and a common area for the students. Each bedroom has it's on lock and key on the door. This girl was the girlfriend of one of the residents. He was out of town and she was staying in one of the empty rooms, meaning a room that no one had rented. She wasn't staying in her boyfriends room which is where I would have been.
Anyway, someone broke down the main door to the apartment. The only room that was messed with was the kitchen. All the cabinets and drawers had been rummaged through. They also broke down the bedroom door of the girl's boyfriend. Inside the bedroom was a laptop, xbox, very expensive clothing and shoes and also a collection of extremely expensive sunglasses that cost around $300.00.
None of this stuff was stolen. The only thing stolen was a 17 inch TV from the common area. It was almost like an after thought. To me, it sounds like this person was looking for something in particular. What thief actually rummages through the kitchen but leaves everything else untouched? And, why wasn't this girl upset about someone breaking in when she was there alone? I know if it had been me, I would have been so upset that no one could have calmed me down. My brother kept going to her to make sure she was alright and he was so sorry that this happened to her and she was like, it's okay. It's okay?
It was also raining that morning and there were no wet footprints leading to the door nor was there any wet footprints on the door or inside the door. So, it leads the police to believe that it was in inside job, someone in the that apartment complex broke into this apartment. Something just isn't right with all of this and the police feel the same way.
Even though I really believe this was an inside job and the person who broke in, knew the people who lived in the apartment, I am still going to be very cautious.

That sounds odd, someone was obviously looking for something more than what was there, with the xbox alone and the sunglasses it was a payday for the thief instead they stole a small tv I guess not to leave empty handed

Be careful, that does sound suspicious. What did the police say about it?

@Carmelanirel2 That's the thing about a gated community. It gives you a false sense of security. The thing is, crime can happen anywhere.

@simone10 it does sound like in some movies that someone was looking for something specific and stole the TV to put people off track but it all looks so suspicious that I would be curious to know what it was they wanted.

That girl sounds a bit too nonchalant after a break-in. I'd be suspicious of her

@fishtiger58 She left that night and went back to her apartment. I asked the same question, why was she in another bedroom besides her boyfriends. This also made the police think that something wasn't right with the situation.

@simone10 I think so too. And what was the girlfriend doing in a different apartment other than her boyfriends. She knew the break in was coming that's why she wasn't in her boyfriends apartment. She did this so she could plead innocence. I would ask her to leave. She has no business in there anyway. Especially in an empty apartment.

That is all very weird, I agree with you. I hope the police can figure it out. I would have been scared out of my mind if I was that girl!

This does sound odd. There are too many things that just don't quite add up.
