I've seen many people ask 'how long has myLot been around'?
From what I understand, it started up in March 2006 as a chat site, and turned into a paying site shortly thereafter.
Posted May 23, 2006 this is the oldest surviving discussion (this is #3, #1 and #2 have been deleted).

@JolietJake a microchip. so in 2006, they still don't understand how and where pictures from digital camera should be uploaded.

I think they meant the processor for their computer, but that isn't where it would upload to

@JolietJake I have seen also new users that write one discussion and then they disappear.

Several of the earliest discussions are that way, only one post from the user

@JolietJake So the concept of continuous earning through steady interaction did not apply in the early days? And now, where a vintage post attracts some activity, there is unlikely to be any fiscal benefit, you reckon?

@pgntwo Back in the old times, it was 'I type, I earn, you type, you earn'. The old posts...well, if we are active on them, the original poster is going to receive something for any responses we leave, and we'll be compensated for replies back and forth to each other on them, but if we are posting on them and not getting any interaction back, it won't do anything for us

In the old system, when they had all users listed, there was page after page after page of users with only one post

@JolietJake That makes about the same in respect of joining date because I was here for a couple of weeks before I ever posted. It was my first site so I waited to familiarise myself with the system before venturing into writing my own discussion.

You never know what will happen when you wake up old discussions. @TheHorse woke one of mine up, and through it, my very first myLot friend got an alert, because I mentioned her. She stopped by and commented on one of my current discussions. Love this place.

@JolietJake gotcha, I wondered, the searches on this site are more subject rather than time frame based at best

I've known about it for years, you used to be able to easily look up posts by the number.. In fact, you still can by using mylot.com/post/3 or whatever number after www
for instance, this discussion is /post/2900485

@JolietJake Is that because they stopped paying for awhile?

@TheHorse I don't believe so, because they were still paying for 4 years after they hit 2 million

Here's a slightly strange fact...it took just under a year to reach 1 million discussions here, then almost 2 more years to get to 2 million...now, 7 years after that and it hasn't reached 3 million yet
