That would make for an interesting poll...

I wonder how many of the demonstrators that are currently trying to promote civil unrest over Trump's election are actually registered voters that got out and voted?
Methinks 'twould likely fall below 50%.
And it is almost funny that the Republican's 'not MY President' is now being echoed by the Democrats.
NEWSFLASH - The Republicans were wrong...and so are you now.
If you are an American citizen, then sorry, but Trump IS your President-elect.
I wonder if Trump and Obama will become golfing buddies now?

@Mike197602 The two-party system is so deeply entrenched at this point that the third way is generally not a viable one. I think the third party candidates running this time around ended up with a whopping 4% of the overall votes.
@LadyDuck Voter turnout this year was pretty bad... I think about 50%, if I'm remembering the figures correctly. I don't blame people for choosing not to vote, but so many don't realize that throwing away their vote like that is condoning whatever candidate their peers vote for...

@Mike197602 I am surprised too, but many think that a vote given to a third party candidate is a wasted vote.

Thing is there weren't just two candidates there were other options.
I'm surprised not many chose a third way

i doubt that they become golfing buddies but you are right, Trump is America's president-elect right now and although others may not support his stand on some issues, the position he will hold deserves the support and respect of the country.
Good luck with that!

It took me a couple of days to get over the shock of Trump being the new president-elect. These people don't seem to get it. They need to back him up now and hope for the best for the next four years. Not make a scene and act like total idiots. Obama was very gracious in his touring Trump through the White House. I hope everyone can work together effectively.

Americans would have to live with it no matter how bitter the pill is to swallow for those who oppose. To be frank, I did not vote for the present President of our country but I am learning to live with it on a day to day basis
because that is what the majority wants.

The problem is that many of the demonstrators are seeing that Trump is NOT what the majority wants. Hillary won the popular vote, but Trump won the votes from the Electoral College. Since the Electoral College are the people who actually elect the President, the electoral votes are what matters in American elections. So in some cases (like now), the majority doesn't win.

@yukimori oh i see, then it's up to your congress or your Senate to enact or repeal certain laws to avoid future problems, sorry but in our Democracy we do not have college or popular votes.
Perhaps they could call a recount or declare a total failure of elections and start all over depending on your laws, a president elect is not President lest he has taken an oath and sworn to office so all things are still possible like a legal challenge, cease and desist etc,.. Again it depends on you laws, but if your law says that it's the college votes that counts then that is executory

@JolietJake I think very soon the demonstrations will cease and they will forget about this. They will have to live with their democratically elected President and make the best of it. Life goes on. As for whether Obama and Trump will become golfing buddies, that's a real possibility as both do enjoy golf (they have something in common).

That is a really awesome question. How many of them voted? How many got involved in the political process and helped out their candidate?
