How many discussions do I need to post to reach over $500 at myLot?

Are you ready for the answer? It may amaze and astound you!
But it is the honest truth.
If you don't believe me, you can ask @GoAskAlice or @myLotBugs or anyone that has been here for awhile.
Get ready...here comes the answer!
*drum roll*
ONE.
All you have to do is receive enough interaction from other users.
(deletes objectionable sentence relating to material frequently posted by some users)
Seriously, if you would start putting forth the effort, and actually listen to what people tell you...and read the Guidelines/FAQ pages...you wouldn't be asking 'How many posts does it take to reach $1'.
While I sincerely doubt I'll ever see it happen, it is theoretically possible to earn $500 from only one discussion that receives enough interaction from yourself and other users.
I add 'yourself' in there because the more you are active commenting to the responses/comments you get, the more interaction you are going to receive.
Received interaction is the key to how much your discussion will earn.
The key is NOT posting a gazillion discussions.
ESPECIALLY discussions asking how much you have to post to earn something.

@JolietJake I have noticed, too many still say "if I post no discussions, I make no money". Of course this is true if they post and do nothing else.

"expect plenty of questions from those who will never understand"
Unfortunately, you are precisely correct. No matter how simply I put it, there are some that will just never 'get' it.

@JolietJake Geez, I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that this is the last day of the month and members are realizing that they won't make the cut off.

@Juliaacv That's something I don't quite 'get' myself. Why don't they make a lot of activity at the first of the month to get to payout and then not have to worry about rushing at the end?

You lead us to the right track, my friend. I do agree with you. There is a member told me that why I post one or two discussions here. I was really offended by him. I just said that it is better to interact than posting a lot of discussions.

@JolietJake I also noticed that. It wasn't supposed to be like this. They need to interact with others and read other discussions.

@JolietJake We can be on here forever just by going from one post to another all day long and not write any posts of their own.

Too often I see users that are only paying attention to their own 'discussions' and ignoring those from everyone else.
And then they don't understand why they aren't getting anywhere here.

I'm thinking of working on a concise explanation of how mylot works with a link and saving it somewhere then copying it as a response to all those people that ask the very simple questions.
Do you think that'd be allowed?

I wish more newbies would take the time to read your discussions but many of them are too busy posting a gazillion discussions to read anybody else's.

Yep.
I do get the occasional one that reads it, but maybe it would be better if they didn't.
Then I wouldn't have the motivation to post them.

If every one participated in a discussion and the author keeps on making interesting replies, one discussion is enough. But some wanted to generate a lot and post no sense of discussion all the time believing it could generate dollars just like that..

And those are the ones that normally ignore you when you try to tell them that 1,000 'posts' can theoretically earn them $0.
Yesterday seemed to have an overabundance of the 'How many posts to reach $x.xx'

@diosabella 'That easy' is a relative term though. I find, for myself, it isn't that hard. But I enjoy myself here instead of making 'work' out of it.

@JolietJake Its a question that's always being ask when new or when pay date is upon us. And usually they quit after knowing it wasn't that easy.

Some people do not believe what others tell them anyway and will continue doing what they think to be best.

Great explanation man!
Too bad the people who need to know this won't read this discussion of yours. That's a proven fact!

Now if only those bozos would learn. What amazes me is that when I try to have a conversation with a lotter more often than not I don't get a response to those comments, it's as if they just wanted to leave a polite response then move on.

I get that and do that too @JolietJake of course in my case I can claim age made me do it
So true, many are one hit wonders, I keep wondering where they went.
Well, if they're too stupid to answer comments made to their responses then it's their loss, right?

My mind is often too scattered to maintain an ongoing conversation. I can...up to a point...but then I get sidetracked and don't make it back.
But so many don't even make that first comment back.

@JoiletJake , I waited before responding because I hoped at least one or two of the newbies who expressed doubts about earning will visit and respond to this discussion. This is a topic they want to" discuss". Where are they? I wonder.

Seems like 95% of the time they ignore discussions that tell them things they should know.
I see Bugsy slipped in and gave this a 'like'.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing as I was reading it. And yes, The NEW-Be needs to learn it does help to read the post before your leave a two word comment... I wonder what the percentage is of new people who ask that same question...

@ramapo17 I've had so many "cool story", "ya, that's right", and two and three words comments that are not even close to what was written. I'm sure you have too. Silly of anyone to think they can comment without reading it first. I think they think this whole site is about money...and it often is but certainly not enough money to fake your way through the people who could help you in the long run..

Per usual, the people that really know it are the people that read it. The ones that need to read it never bother. Go figure.

@JolietJake And forever asking how can I earn money here. That gets old. I just go to my following list usually so mostly I miss out on the multiple posts - which probably isn't very fair but sometimes I go to new discussions and no responses.

I see new (and old) users posting 20-30 discussions a day at times. It's very off-putting to see them clog up the lists.

It really can't be answered, since we don't know how much interaction they will receive, but trying to get new users (or old ones at times) to understand that is an exercise in frustration more often than not.

Unfortunately many won't 'automatically' understand it. There are people that have been here for years that still don't 'get' it.

And only because I'm a Math Teacher and a recovering Accountant of the Certified Public variety, using myself as a test case, I have determined that at my current average rate of earnings per discussion posted I will reach the $500 earned on myLot milestone on or near my 1,786th discussion posted, provided I maintain my current level of activity in commenting and responding to others, thereby eliciting a constant level of comments and responses in return.

It's even possible to earn here without posting any discussion at all, but I think people should at least post one. I know of one person that posts discussions now, but when he began here he just roamed around the site and got plenty of interaction on the threads he got involved in. There have been a few more people that have done the same thing, although I still think it's best to post something new once in a while as not everyone will know to go looking at a person's activity to interact with them in that manner if they've not written anything at all, or anything in a long while.

I love this post. It is so true. If you don't interact, no money. If you do, then (probably not $500) you will get a few pennies which, as we all know, adds up. Let's lighten up and spend time talking to each other! Thanks for this (and great "hook" in the title, by the way)
