Full-moon fever...

So I suppose you have heard the saying "Once in a blue moon".
Turns out that once in a blue moon is once every 2 months.
January had two full moons...February had no full moons...and March will have two full moons.
A 'blue moon' typically refers to 2 full moons happening within a calendar month, with the second full moon being the 'blue' moon.
This is a shot of the first of March's full moons.

I think it was about 30 F when I shot this, didn't put my coat on and it was too cold to set the camera stand up

It was so bright outside I could have driven home without headlights. I used to do that every now and then, for fun.

I was a bit surprised by the brightness since it wasn't a 'super' moon

@JolietJake Shorter than I thought, it seems that only the recent Popes live long, except the one who wanted to donate to poor and only lived 23 days as Pope.

So why is it referred to as a blue moon? It must be different, in some way.

Thought to be called "blue" after an old English term meaning "betrayer," a Blue Moon is an extra full moon that occurs in that span, due to a quirk of the calendar.

Wow! That is a great pic of the moon. You really got a good shot JJ.
I haven't noticed the crazies happening around here. Maybe I can blame my own nutty behavior on the moon. Can't blame it all on being a blonde.

@JolietJake As spring gets nearer, I suppose that there is a better possibility of clear skies.

I've noticed that this full moon has all of the crazies acting worst then usual, and even those who weren't have gone wacky. I'll be glad when its passed.
Its funny how your picture and looking right at a full moon are so beautiful yet can bring on such strange behaviour.

@JolietJake That looks great.
But the strangeness always starts a couple of days ahead of the actual full moon and lingers for a couple of days afterwards.......people at my workplace have been so strange this week.

It's not often we get two sets so close together. According to the original meaning, I guess this is technically the 'blue' moon.

Actually a blue moon has to do with a season or a period of three months. There should only be three full moons in three months so when there are four, the third one is called the blue moon. Blue moons only happen once every three years or so from what I remember. I love the Harvest Moon - that huge one that makes the moon seem like it's practically in touching distance.

You are going by the old definition, which is in the link I left another person here.

Flying back home last night, saw how beautiful the moon was. Had to take a photo from inside the plane using my phone and it didn't appear as beautiful.
