Old discussions and missed responses

For some reason I came across an old post and checked out the responses. To my horror, I discovered I hadn’t answered at least 27 people who were kind enough to leave a comment. And it was written one year and one day ago!
I’ll add a link just in case anyone hasn’t read it as it has a very catchy title even if the rest isn’t so hot (pardon the pun).
But my question is: What do you do if and when this happens? I wanted to reply to the 27 people but didn’t want to write ‘I missed this a year ago’ 27 times so in the end I mostly just replied to everyone as though it was written yesterday. I didn’t reply to those who seem to have left the site. Now I think I’d better go check some more of my old posts. Apologies to all those who noticed the lack of response from me.
The photo is a sunset at the town of Denmark in Western Australia.
I have an Ebay account. My husband does not. He has used my account extensively lately to buy stuff for the caravan. The last purchase involved buying some...

I'm sure if I went back I've missed responses. I've probably missed some even recently

I think we all know that those we interact with most are doing their best when it comes to comments and replies. Mostly I wouldn't know if someone has replied to my comment or not. Just occasionally I might ask a specific question and wonder what's happened if I don't get a reply.

Sometimes I find people at the bottom of the page that I haven't answered and I'm sure I didn't see any notifications for them. The thing is if we are quite active here we might not even notice if someone didn't leave us a reply. It's impossible to remember every post we've made

@JudyEv I have my settings to show comments and responses but not likes or mentions so I don't even know if someone likes my posts.

@sprite1950 I think mine is set for likes and mentions. I deal with mine through the emails I get.

I think most people here are forgiving. Many probably can't even remember all the comments they made to each discussion. I think people may notice if a certain person never responds to comments, though. Then they might stopped commenting on that person's discussions. Probably most of us make an occasional unintentional slip up -- especially if life kept us away for a while.

I agree with all your points. I have stopped commenting on a couple of people's posts because they never comment on mine. I don't expect them to follow me religiously but when I was responding to virtually every post of theirs and they were writing several each day I thought it was getting a bit one-sided. And unless I've asked a specific question I wouldn't know if people have replied to all my comments.

you don't have to mention it, and it would revive the post all over again, because it will show up on their notifications and on Most Recent Activity so the conversation will start again.

I tried to look at my old posts but there are so many. Then when I check one post the list just goes back to the beginning and I have to scroll down again. Is there an easier way to check old posts? I will now take a look at the link.

I have 1200+ discussions and you have even more. For myself, I'd open a heap of posts on separate tabs or else I might search for tags. If I search for 'Western Australia', dozens of my posts would come up and I could open at least several at once in different tabs.

I have LONG said I wish we could toggle between oldest and newest on our discussions page. It would make things MUCH easier and I think much better, and would benefit the site as well since I think more people would breathe new life in older posts that otherwise just sit and collect dust wasting space on the server.

I was wondering why you never responded to me on that post! haha

As you know, I am CONSTANTLY revisiting my older discussions and making sure "no stone has been left unturned." I agree, people took the time to leave a comment. The least I can do is offer a like or a response. More people should make it a point, I think, to go through their older posts and "finish the job," so to speak, and even to dig around and find older discussions that they may find interesting enough to read and comment on, breathing new life in older posts that just sit and collect dust, wasting space on myLot's server.

@JudyEv I mean think about it. Some people left responses and never even get a like or a response back, so they don't get paid. Seems a bit unfair since they took the time to comment in the first place. Might as well go back and return the favor since WE got paid for the comment they left. Not that we are obligated of course. I guess for me it's the principle.

If I remember correctly, I had not responded to this particular post, which you have mentioned.
I start less number of posts, therefore, usually I do not miss to check out responses on my posts and I comment back accordingly.

I notice you commented on my response way back and we had a chain of interaction there.
When I came across such situations I too have just responded and/or commented without batting an eyelid (lol)

@allknowing That's true and I try to go to some on the sidebars if they interest me.

I think for me the problem was that a notice would just mention one, perhaps two names but actually maybe four or five had responded. I think if people know that you reply as a general rule they won't get too hung up if you miss one or two here and there. We're all doing our best.
