Took a chance on an old discussion yesterday...

The discussion was from 2007 and had no responses.
The user hadn't been active since 2012.
But I responded anyway...just in case.
And believe it or not, the user still had the same email address and commented back!
They said "Wow, I had no clue mylot was still around and it's amazing that I even remembered my username let alone my password."
Of course, they may quietly vanish once again. After all, I've tried responding to 'inactive' users before and never heard from them, or I heard from them once and that was it.
But this is why myLot doesn't 'clean out' the inactive users...because sometimes, they may return...

I've responded to old discussions that appear in the "you might also like" column and received a response.

This one waited 11 years for you to respond
. I suppose it is due to the search feature, but I have been often surprised to see how a several years old discussion that I had forgotten could be unburied here. It is a good motive to not delete old discussions.

I was doing a 'tag' search and two results popped up...one mine and one theirs

@JolietJake I responded to a few very old discussions, but nobody commented back, you have been lucky.

I used to do that a lot on the old mylot, when I was here so much that I'd gone through every single other discussion and still wanted more

@LilyBeBack Actually, it looks like you still can. Typing ht tp://ww w.mylot.com/w/discussions/3.aspx without the spaces will take you to the oldest surviving discussion, and then you can just change the number to find others. You'll get the 'Whoops!' page if the discussion no longer exists.

I miss being able to enter a 'random' number and finding a discussion. Now you need the actual title to find them that way.
Used to be you could type the myLot URL with /discussions/(number).aspx at the end.

Maybe they will become active again. I dropped a comment for them too.

They aren't going to get an email that may draw them back if their account is deleted.

How do you know who the inactive users are? Is there a list?

@JolietJake Yeah just wait it out....you've already planted the bug in their head.
Make sure you report back on any further myLot activity from this stray member who somehow broke loose.

Maybe, if you tell us who/what/where and we all responded to it, the inactive user would come back.

Back in 2006, I joined about thirty sites so I could work from home. Then we wouldn't need a second car, to maintain. It worked good, for a few years. Most of those sites either closed down or were sold. I didn't close membership in these sites, they basically ceased to exist!
