Shopping for a new guitar today with my friend from Paradise CA

My friend who lost his house in the Paradise fire is staying with me for a couple of days. We jammed last night with my friend Michael, and Horse Jr. and his mom came of over to listen. It was a festive evening. My friend lost his Martin D-18 guitar in the fire, so we'll be hitting several guitar stores today to try and find a new love for my buddy. I'll let you know what happens.

I hope he can find the guitars he likes. It's horrible to lose everything in a fire.

We went to three guitar stores. He found a D-28 he likes at the Guitar Center close to my house. I hope he gobbles it up. We're going to head back up there in a hour or so.

@TheHorse Will he receive a compensation from an insurance for everything he lost? It must be hard to start from nothing.

@LadyDuck The guitar was not insured but he may receive some money from other sources for the loss of the guitar.

I hope your friend's house was insured? Has he had to move away from the area? I guess he has. It's good he's getting a new guitar.

I thik their insuranc will help pay for the clean-up. They're living in the guest house, which (for no particular reason) did not burn.

Thanks! He and his girlfriend needed a couple of days apart, so this is the perfect vacation for him. He found one he really likes. We're going to check it out again later today.

That's my buddy. I think he's playing my Martin D-18 up at Grass Valley in that photo. We found him a perfect new Martin D-28 and jammed into the wee hours last night!

The Paradise fire was so awful. I have another friend I met through here long ago who lived in Paradise. She and her mom and her three birds evacuated, but lost everything else pretty much. They had family in New Mexico and have moved there.

Gee, this is sad. Did you know that there are fund raising for them at gofundme.com? So kind of you to put up your friend and help him while he gets situated again. Red Cross helps people "I believe" get back on their feet as well, for when news of the volcano eruption happened on the Big Island the Red Cross was there from day 1 and helped people to they got situated "I believe". There is a site benefits.gov to help people if they qualify for government help like rental subsidy, foodstamps calle SNAP today etc. Take care and I hope things work out for your friend.

Well, he has a new guitar. That's a start. He and his girlfriend are still in limbo. They're on the property, in the guest house (which didn't burn down), but they're not sure what they're going to do next.
