We are now in our new Bed and Breakfast place in Budhanilkantha, Nepal. There is good wifi access which is a bonus. Our first taxi took us to the tailors where we picked up Vince’s Nepali suit. It wasn’t ready so we went for a walk and had lunch in a small restaurant. The café was opposite the Australian Embassy and a woman was up on a ladder drawing something on the wall. Later, she came into the café. Her name is Sandra and she is managing a project that involves putting a mural on the wall in recognition of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development goals. She is Australian but spends five month a year in Nepal.
Once we picked up the suit, another taxi took us over some VERY rough roads looking for this place. Eventually we found it and it was worth the effort. The views are spectacular and we’ve already taken a few photos. Some of the proceeds from this B&B go to an orphanage which is part of the complex. It’s been running since the 1990s with most of the financial assistance coming from a German lady.
There are about 35 children here and another 40-odd have graduated and are working or travelling the world. There is quite a large area under cultivation for vegetables. They have several cows that they milk and chickens for eggs. Later, we are going to go to the orphanage for a short tour. What wonderful things people are achieving in quiet ways.
The photo shows Vince’s trousers. They have a drawstring in the waist. Please know I mean no offence to those of the Hindu faith. We feel it is an honour to be asked to participate in this way.

That's called pyjamas (not the nightwear) and men wear it below kurta. I hope I am correct. In India, kurta pajama is a traditional attire of men. Traditionally it comes with drawstring but now a days many opt for elastic also.

Obviously I've missed many of your discussions as I've not been very active lately
I'm a bit jealous as would love to visit nepal...my dad did for a tiger photograph safari and everest flight a few years ago and really liked it.
I used to be a regular at a nepalese restaurant near me that was run by a group of ex ghurkas and have wanted to visit for years but I don't travel at all at the moment

@Mike197602 Vince was there in the October before the earthquake. Vince did see a rhinocerous on the roadside. It was partly tame.

It must be a great adventure. I am jealous! I think China may be the most exotic place I will ever get to.

We were supposed to go to China in May but that is in the lap of the gods now, what with the coronavirus and all.

It sounds as if the orphanage is working hard to be as sustainable as possible. Great your lodging contributes to that. It is courteous that Vince is choosing to wear local garb.

The orphanage is doing great work I think. I wish we could contribute to it more.
