An easy fix! And an extra $250. Without MyLot's help.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that one channel was louder than the other on my 1971 Sherwood S-7100A stereo receiver. I took it out of my system and replaced it with a 1971 Kenwood KR-5150. The system sounds fine now I then opened up the back of the ailing Sherwood S-7100A and gave the "function" control a "bath" with generic De-Oxit. I could tell that the selector switch was "fouling things up." I'll test the 7100 soon, and assume that it will be ready for service as asked. If you have old stereo (or other electronic) components, do NOT write them off and discard them if something is not quite right. Talk to an "expert" like me, and turn tin into gold. My "free" 7100 is worth about $250 now should I decide to part with it (I probably won't).

There’s a song for that!!!
Here is a fantastic Bubblerock video I put together of McGuinn Clark & Hillman's smash 1979 hit - "Don't You Write Her Off" All three were the former members...

I actually remember this one! I had no idea, back in the day, that they were singing about stereo components. I can be so naive.

It looks vintage. I don't know anything about electronic. If we want to buy something, normally i would find reviews on internet. Or ask my husband's little brother. He knows a lot about electronic too. Are you technician?

We wound getting rid of our old stuff because we have no space for it, or never actually used it. And, we still have stuff we don't need or want.

Some problems are really easy to fix. You just need to have the right knowledge or be able to access it.

Very true. I've been a stereo geek since I was a kid. I wish I'd learned to build stereo componenents (Dynaco and other manufacturers used to offer kits), but I never did.

@TheHorse I always wonder at how some kids have a strong interest in something, often for no apparent reason.

@TheHorse Some talents are discovered later in life simply through lack of opportunity. How nice to have a Steinway in such a facility - or any piano at all for that matter.

In India we take it to repair shop or call the guy over. He would charge me about 20 dollars maximum. I have very good reasons to like my country Pony ji.

Well, my genuine Indian rug, bought on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana, is holding up quite well. I know it's an authentic Indian rug because it says "Made in India" right on the label!

@TheHorse Yep. It's right there in the mix. Even for a guy like me, I don't make a fortune on the Pink Flamingoes album. But I make enough that it can make me smile at least. Anything I can find to gain from using passions and skills is always a good thing in my book.

My old boombox has a broken antenna and keeps turning down the volume, and the tape deck screeches, but it has such a warm tone that I put up with it.
