A handy little gadget

I bought this gadget online a while ago and it is really quite handy. Do you know what it is? In case you haven’t seen one before: It’s an attachment for a vacuum cleaner and consists of a number of hollow plastic tubes. It’s good for sucking up dust but, because of the tiny size of the tubes, it ONLY sucks up dust and fluff. I’ve found quite a few uses for it. It wasn’t very expensive, at least I didn’t think so, and it’s supposed to fit all brands that have a hose or wand. Maybe one day the tubes will all block up but that hasn’t happened yet and maybe you could pass a skewer down each one to free it up.

It seems like quite a handy tool to have at home or work!

It's good for getting dust out of corners. I have a wooden box which is highly carved. I brush it with a toothbrush to loosen the dirt then use this to suck up the gunk.

@CarolDM Thanks. I'm sure you can appreciate that dust gets into the carvings and is difficult to get out.

At first look, I thought it was possibly to baste a roasting turkey or chicken:) I was way off base!!!

That's okay. It doesn't really look like an attachment but it does work really well.

@Marty1 My sister had a tube with a rubber ball on top. She would squeeze it to create suction, in the hot broth around the turkey, to baste it.

@Marty1 No, I have a brush that works good. Sometimes I use a big ladle spoon, also.

I thought it was a mini Star Wars light saber . Tiny tubes - I don't think we have that . . . hmmm, must investigate!

It can clean up round screws or buttons in drawers without picking them up.

Not sure if I've seen one of those or not. My car vacuum came with some tiny tips to fit into recesses in the dash of the car. (If it's like the one I have you can run a pipe cleaner down it to clear blockages.)

@JudyEv You're welcome. The only thing thinner that might work would be fish line. Some of those are quite thin and strong.

This would be good for cleaning a car dash too but I doubt a pipe cleaner would go down the tube. But thanks for the tip. I'll remember that if I get any blockages.

@JudyEv We have spartek flooring with a centre carpet that is rolled when we sweep. The carpet is cleaned with a hard brush

It depends what your floor coverings are probably. They're good for carpets - vacuum cleaners that is, not this tool.

Awesome @JudyEv I found it on the Walmart website, I'm buying one, it'll come in handy for cleaning the space heaters I have. I haven't been able to get the dust off the back shield but now there is hope. Thanks so much.

I don't know what other names it has but on Ebay it has the following description: Vacuum Dust Cleaner Brush Dirt Remover etc. One was selling for $23 and the same thing for $9 but they're both in Australia.

@JudyEv It's very good to remove the dust inside the computer tower. It is incredible how much dust there is inside a computer.

@LadyDuck That's an excellent idea. The static electricity I think attracts the dust. Is that your understanding?

That's a handy little device. Our vacuum cleaner hates me; it deliberately sucks up things it isn't supposed to and leaves the rest. For example if I'm trying to get some fluff off the carpet it will grab a corner of a nearby curtain instead and suck that up and I'll really have to pull to get it off, but the fluff will be untouched. It makes me so mad my partner has to do the vacuuming.

@JudyEv They do it on purpose! And they bump into the corners of door frames etc to chip the paint off. And drop on your toes if you go over a bump.

@Fleura AND...... AND get hooked on anything it's possible to get hooked on and lots of things that aren't (possible to get hooked on). I have one that follows me like a dog. Someone on myLot said that - so much more descriptive than saying a 'barrel vacuum cleaner'. lol

I know what you're saying. Vacuum cleaners grab everything. Yet you can place it directly on something you want sucked up and it will leave it there. Ugh!
