First of all, let me wish a Happy Memorial Day to all Americans. As you sit down to your grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, let us not forget about all the men and women that lost their lives defending our country. To those of you that are not American, we celebrate Memorial Day to honor those that lost their lives in defense of our country.
Can you believe that June will be here tomorrow? Another month has flown by.
The waterproofing people are coming back on Friday to give us a lower quote on the waterproofing job on the room off the garage. They said that the tech talked to the president of the company and that he had a suggestion as to how they could do the job cheaper. It all sounds like a set-up to me. I checked their complaints on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website; and the people that complained all had quotes of between $15,000-16,000. Sounds like a standard price. If you don't respond right away, they probably give you a cheaper price. Call me cynical; but that's just what I think.
Thursday I have my annual long eye doctor appointment. Not looking forward to that. I have to take a field of vision test, three other eye tests, get drops and do that "Is this one better? Or is this one better?" thing. Then we are going out to eat.
Have a great day and a great new week. The weather finally warmed up again. Stay safe and stay healthy.

I had cataracts; but I had surgery on both eyes. I have glaucoma and chronic dry eye.

I am so lucky we have a good contractor for the cottage but here in CT, I trust no one. Kasey had a handyman do a couple of things that came out less than perfect.

@LindaOHio Me too and my friend who was a real estate agent suggested checking with one for contractors. What I did in PA was call a local business and he recommended a plumber and I used the Plumber liked him and I asked them if they knew a contractor and they connected us with David. I did something similar in Florida. I did get the name of an electrician from our plumber here so I think it is a good way to do it.

I usually check with the Better Business Bureau for contractors and read any complaints that the contractor has had.

It was a quiet Memorial Day. I just put my flag down from my window. Went to Target, Monday and got my pillow on sale with a gift card.

We never really grilled on this day....but I understand some like to. We just put flowers on the graves.
Hope the waterproofing thing all goes well....and your appointment! The eye doctor is not fun....but I don't mind them as much here now that they got rid of one the tests they used to do (shooting air into the eye). But I hope it goes well for you!

Thanks. It was nice of you to put flowers on the graves. Yeah, that air in the eyes stuff is not fun.

@LindaOHio Well we didn't this year; but my great aunt did it.
I'm glad they don't do the air in the eye stuff here anymore lol.

Yes, it's important for Americans to remember the sacrifices those service men and women made so that we could have our freedom.
My condolences goes out to all the families who lost someone like this but they should also be proud of each and everyone of them.

Yeah, that’s the game, isn’t it: “Oh, you found another company that’s $3,000 cheaper? We’ll match the price.”
I posted a tribute on my Facebook wall about three in my circle who gave their lives in defense of the country: one in Vietnam, one in peacetime, and one as a veteran who had the VA turn their back on him when he needed them most. Thanks for the reminder.
