Chilling

I am trying to find things that appeal to hubby for the evening. In the refrigerator, chilling, is a cream cheese and olive spread. He will eat it on crackers. I may microwave a potato to put mine on. He really loves olives and they are good for you, as well. I put black olives, kalmata olives and the green olives with pimientos in them in the cream cheese. I beat in a little olive oil and some grated parmesan cheese. Just remembered those are called manzanilla olives. The weather has turned warm and he says he is already tired. It is not quite 5:30. We did have a dish of ice cream and a cup of coffee around 4 pm.

The heat can take a lot out of you. I know my husband will crash harder on hot summer days.

Manzanilla olives are the small green Spanish olives, those used for the Martini cocktails. My husband loves olives, I like more small onions.

The small green ones are the ones hubby likes the best. I like onions as well and if I had some small pickled ones they would likely go in this mixture.

@GardenGerty I also like to have the small picked onions, I like them better than olives. My husband likes all kind of olives, it shows that part of his family is from south of Italy, I am a northern.

When was the last time hubby had a checkup? I love olives. I'd never tried kalmata olives before but saw some a few days ago, so bought them... They aren't as good, to me, as the manzanilla olives.

Hubby will have another check up next week. He is seen regularly by lots of doctors. Kalmata is different. Hubby likes the manzanilla the best.

@DaddyEvil You can't figure out something to do to improve them? In our family I am the one who refuses to see the doctor. My philosophy is "I'll get over it."

@GardenGerty Good. Too many men refuse to see a doctor when they know something is wrong. Yes, kalmata olives taste "off" to me. I'm thinking about throwing the rest of the jar away.

olives are one of my favorite foods that are good for digestion, I've never had that kind of olive oil with parmesan cheese, how does it taste?

He really likes olives, so I will save them for him. Ice cream and coffee are delicious. I also like a donut with that if I can get it.

You can put other things in a cream cheese spread. We happen to like olives.

We used to have "olive bars" in some of our stores. I did occasionally find some I did not like as much.
