I just had a post in progress completely disappear. Has this ever happened to you?

I was five paragraphs into a post about my day, when it completely disappeared. Has this ever happened to you? It has cooled down from 107 F to 103 F here, so I'm going to order some sushi, buy a microphone, and then visit the pool. Enough said for now. I'm frustrated. But I'm hungry too.

Yeppers. I had something to say. Now it seems "stale." Maybe I'll get back to it.

Yes, lines just disappearing, never to be seen again. I think it's the digital version of the sock eating monster.

@TheHorse They're a weird bunch, those gremlins. They take my pens that work and leave others that don't

My gremlins have been after my pliers and wood glue lately.

No, it never happened, I always write "offline" in a text editor and I save before posting.

@TheHorse It takes the same time as typing directly online.

I've had comments not "take" as well.

When you're trying to respond to a discussion, and that happens, look at your mouse pointer. I bet you've left it on the word "Respond" or "Comment". If you bump your mouse or the mouse pad while the pointer is still touching those commands, you open a new comment box, deleting the first one.

@DaddyEvil Sigh. It's possible. On Epinions, we could "save" partial posts and get back to work on them later. I liked that feature.

I've had that happen. I will read a super long post, or sometimes a short one, respond to it, and then find out it's gone.

In this case I was writing the post. I hit return, to begin the next detailed and insightful paragraph, and it was just gone.

It's happened a lot to me mostly because a finger gets too close to something that changes my page as I do mine in my phone. Now I try to write in Evernote a few notebook and c/p it here and have less lost.

No, I haven't had that happen. I hope you enjoyed the pool. Those temps are much too hot for me. We've been in the 90s. I think we're in for a hot summer here.

@just4him Thanks. Nah, it's just the temperature. I may check what the temp is here before I go to work. It's only 8:25 AM here right now.

It's going to be cooler today, with a high around 104 F. I head to the foothills this evening for some music jammin' with friends.

@TheHorse I take it that's not the heat index. I hope you can stay cool. Have fun jamming with friends.

I've never had that happen. Looks like DE has a solution. I'm afraid the heat and drought will be around for a while. Do you have drought in your area? Stay cool and hydrated!

That has never happened to me, although I have lost entire posts when trying to post them. Many times I now resort to writing the post offline and then just copying and pasting it when I am ready to "publish" it. I do this more often for more "in depth" posts. I guess if I don't mind if I lose my lunch...err...well...my post about what I HAD for lunch. What kind of microphone are you going to get? Ever thought of getting a DAW and audio interface to record at home?

Just a Shure SM-58. I'll get an employee discount, so it should cost about $75.

It would happen to me when I post a discussion.... but I don't see that happening in an immediate future! Completely agree with the "stale" feeling. Though I too started copying my post before submission.

I am not sure if this ever happened but I had this happen: I am typing a comment and all of a sudden it disappears and I am left with a blank text box. I may not do it 100% of the time but before I press to publish the post I select the entire text and copy it. If the discussion doesn't post or takes too long to post and nothing happens, I can just start over and paste the text. Sometimes I may post a discussion that is not fully done and then edit it and add more text.
