Spent four hours on the phone today getting my internet to work.

Don't ask me if I recommended Comcast. Got hung up on twice after half an hour (each) on the phone. Got transferred to a third party that said "we no longer support that model. Call your service provider." Finally got through to a guy who spoke fluent English and was able to help me. Now the day is almost over.

I can't abide Comcast--glad to see they haven't done a thing in the last 10 years to improve their customer support

@divalounger It does help when you're trying to solve a nuanced technical problem. Why don't they hire more people who speak English?

Don't say things like that! You'll confuse poor pony! He still thinks a flip phone is state-of-the-art!

It's alright. I don't think you damaged his fragile brain but try not to let that happen again.

@lovebuglena Sigh. Have you consulted with them about it? I have nothing more to say.

@TheHorse I have cell service with them. For some damn reason reception doesn't work well in my house and I have to resort to turning on wi-fi calling if I wanna be able to use my phone to make and receive calls.

I've never heard of Comcast. And yes, the work-from-home operators get paid by the number of people they "help" and get off the line again. When they hung up on you, they get to count that as a satisfied customer happily served.

@TheHorse Maybe but probably he was a supervisor and you got him because everyone else was already busy with customers...
The work-from-home operators all have to follow a script and walk each customer through the same thing(s) every time. Only the supervisors can go off script and help someone.

@DaddyEvil Maybe he was a supervisor. I didn't ask him. I wonder how much they pay those poor clueless ladies in the Philippines. Dang it. I don't think I own Comcast stock.

Maybe the English-speaking dude I talked to was moving on to a new job. He actually took some times with me and explained what he was trying to do. Something worked, though I'm not sure what it was. The Filipino babes were sweet, and repeated words like "fabulous," but they didn't know much, except for what they were reading in front of them.

I really hate when I get a service rep who claims to understand and speak English but the poor thing hasn't a clue what I'm talking about. I've resorted to requesting they transfer me to someone whose first language is English. That got their attention.

I hate it when I am placed on hold for a long time and then get disconnected. It's also very frustrating when I want a real person to help me resolve my issue but have to first deal with the stupid automated machine to try and help me before I figure out how to get a rep on the line.

@lovebuglena I often never get to a live person. When I do, they often don't speak any English.

@TheHorse Like if I am calling with an issue and I know that the automated thing won't help me I don't want to have to deal with it and want to go straight to a live person. Sometimes that's too much to ask.

@TheHorse I would say quite good, usually the Internet works without interruptions, My friends have the works downstairs and I get good WiFi connection, There are some interruption but rarely and for a very short time and it resets itself,
