Do you bend the rules sometimes?

The photo has nothing to do with the post. I needed a kangaroo fix. Do you break the law or bend the rules very often? When our state went into lockdown and we couldn’t travel from one region to another, a nephew and his wife went the back roads to get where they wanted to go. I guess there was little harm in it at the time but it’s not something I would have done. Back roads were also the answer when dairy farmers left their fire-threatened farms to get much-needed fuel for generators to run their milky machines. They weren’t allowed back to their farms and had to resort to back lanes and little-used roads to get to their homes. This, I totally agree with. So I guess I’m okay with breaking/bending the rules when I think they are petty or have no logic to them. How about you? Do you sometimes ignore directions that seem pretty stupid or simply bureaucratic rubbish?

Good for him. I'm sure everyone forgave him - those that knew about it anyway.

I haven't had a reason to but I suppose if there were a rule that prevented me from doing something like shopping for groceries I would bend them

Mostly I think we should all obey the rules but occasionally you come across something that seems incredibly stupid.

I suppose it depends on the situation . . . in the ones you mentioned, I would think the same as you.

@JudyEv Right, as long as there is no harm or risk to anyone else. With the pandemic stuff, we take it very seriously and have stuck to all the rules.

Just occasionally, a ruling seems so silly that I might ignore it. Mostly, I stick to whatever I'm supposed to do.

Yes and no. Then again, what I do fits within the guidlines of what is "allowed". When we went into lockdown, I still played Pokemon Go. I was by myself or with my husband, So, that was within the rules. So I guess no?

@JudyEv I do most of the time, unless a rule conflicts with my personal health.

I am pretty much in favour of rules. But, for necessities, I might do what was needed.

Just occasionally, some ruling will seem so ridiculous that it's just aching to be broken. One example I can think of is those long 'snake' lines you have to go through at airports. If you're the only one there, why walk three times as far as you really need to. Duck under the barriers I say. (But maybe only if no-one is watching.)

I always welcome the roo photos. I try to follow the rules. But they get bent here and there. I also read where there have only been 925 deaths in Australia. Sounds like a severe lockdown in my opinion.

I try to follow them too but just occasionally I might bend them. The virus is getting out of hand in the eastern states but we're still free of it in Western Australia.

@JudyEv Some rules are incredibly stupid, they only cause problems to people and I wonder who had those brilliants ideas and why they were approved.

You're right. Just sometimes the law is really stupid or is imposed by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. There was a huge fire on farmland heading for scrub and the bulldozer on site could have cleared a break in five minutes but it was beyond his 'boundary' and he was forbidden to do it. That sort of thing is plain ridiculous The fire ended up taking out a town while the bureaucrats had meetings about who should be responsible for what.

@JudyEv law has to be the balance between moral (larger social good) and personal ethics (perceived value to me). the issue is that in order to stay in that middle, many laws are just stupid.

It depends on the law. I most likely break the law when it comes to speeding. I have a bit of a lead foot.

Sometimes, on a Sunday there is a long stretch of roadworks but there are no workers and no cars. They've just haven't bothered to take the speed signs down then I definitely ignore them.
