Do you talk to your pet? I certainly do. I found myself treating him like a child, friend and a confidant all rolled up in one. Their love is unconditional, they will never tell your secrets and you can say things to them that you would never ever say to another human being. They keep you company when you are lonely, they comfort you when you are sad. They rejoice with you when you are happy and snuggle with you at night. I think pets are one of the best things we can have in life. What about you?

Of course I talked to her! I talked to her more than some family members!!! And, for the record, I talk to the squirrels, too.

Animals don't want a silent world. I thank my hens when I take their eggs. I thank them for giving me protein. All the fur kids here have some form of intelligence. I refuse to treat them like they are sub par on brains. The cats each know their names, for instance. We've shared life with Rufus pup for about 7 months now. He has learned so much! "down", "back" shake hands, in, wait. On and on. He teaches me something most every day, too. Life is a give and take routine for all of us.

Yep, I think animals sense it when we treat them with love and respect. They don't always know excactly what we're saying (though sometimes they do), but they know how we're saying it.

@RebeccasFarm You appear to be the person who needs a cuddly cat at least. I'm sorry you can't have one.

Kitty does the same thing. She likes to walk right under my legs. Especially if food is involved. Maybe she thinks she is herding me.

Well, yes, I talk to my fishies all the time.... they think I'm going to feed them so swarm around the top of the tank while I talk with them... But, I also tell people that Pretty, my 33 year old daughter, is my pet, too... And yes, I talk to her... and once in a while she even listens and responds to what I say...
