My truck was not repaired. I'm screwed.

I thought my days of cycling to Guitar Center for work were over. But they're not.
I got my Nissan Xterra back the other day, and it was just as it had been before.
I paid $1100 for nothing, though I'm sure I'll get a full refund.
Right now I'm driving a rental. It's ungodly expensive. I have to get to the preschool on Monday, and to Guitar Center on Tuesday and Wednesday.
I have a couple of possible plans, but I won't write about them until I do more research.
The good thing about my last two weeks: Nobody I know well died. And of course the sham recall here failed.
Do you have friends you can turn to in times of need?

That's annoying as hell. I hope they DO give you a refund!! Shouldn't they have called you and said, "I'm sorry Mr. Horse, but we can't fix it"????

@DaddyEvil — remember the commercial, “hey boss, remember when it only took two weeks to fix the problem?”

@FourWalls No, I'm sorry, I don't... but I'll be looking that up now. Thank you.

Mechanics won't do that... They want the money and usually will claim it wasn't a problem with anything they worked on that caused the "new" problems... (Been there, done that! Sued the garage over it, too.)

@TheHorse - Having good friends, and being a good friend, are both so important. Every once in a while, we all need a helping hand. I am also relieved that our sham recall is over. Too bad it cost California nearly $300 million. Think of all the homeless people who could have been helped.

@DeborahDiane My god...that is shocking statistic. But why only an year. That much should be sufficient to house them in some place. I agree that is a huge waste of money.
With everything going online...is it not possible to have elections online, and mandatory that campaigns should be online only. That way, lot of money can be saved.
In our reality shows we do vote for contestants. So why not political contestants.

@DeborahDiane Thanks for your analysis. I am trying to figure out what the purpose of the sham recall was. Is it really just to hurt those in need?

@TheHorse - There are currently an estimated 151,000 homeless in California. Assuming it would cost about $25,000 to house a homeless person for a year, you could house 12,000 of them with the $300,000,000 we spent on that useless election. Perhaps more, because many of them are couples who could live together. We might have gotten 10% of our homeless off the street, just by not having that ridiculous recall election. That's not a total solution, but a significant start. I hate wasting money.

I stopped putting shams on my pillows years ago, so the recall didn't affect me.
But too bad that your truck wasn't fixed: I was gonna ask you to transport (from Hamilton to St Catharines) the pond liner I dug out of my friend's garden the other day.

I believe they worked on the car in good faith. My friend Donna and I priced used cars the other day. They are ungodly expensive. I have my white Chevy Silverado pick-up just sitting there in Montana. It would cost me only about $500 to fly up there and drive it home.

Do I have friends I can call on - that's a question I've asked myself recently. I did have friends who would come and pick me up from somewhere if I needed it, lend me a vehicle if I needed it, offer me a place to stay... and of course I would do the same for them. I lent them money too - and they repaid me in due course. But nowadays I'm not so sure. Everyone is more settled now and busy with their spouses and children. I know they would want to help, or at least say they wanted to help - but would they really be able to get away from their responsibilities if I needed them? Would they offer me a place to stay if I was homeless? Hopefully I won't have to put them to the test.

@TheHorse The best laid plans...
i suspect, where I live, not having a car would be impossible.
