How can I get rid of stains inside cups?

The cups we use for tea / coffee are white inside. After using them for a long time we now have stains on them, I am assuming from tea or coffee. Is there a way to get rid of those stains so the cups are white again? Scrubbing them with a sponge and dishwashing liquid doesn't help.

I use bleach spray cleaner. Spray it on the inside of the cup for a little while. Then I wash them with dish soap and rinse thoroughly.

Baking soda and white vinegar if I want to scrub them. If not I soak them in boiling water with a bit of bleach, but make sure to rinse them well.

@lovebuglena I dump some baking soda in the cups and spray them with white vinegar ..it starts to fizz and that is when I scrub them with the dish sponge, the rough edge.

Put some white vinegar into the cup and let it soak for a little while then wash it as normal. The stains should be gone.

@lovebuglena The stains I needed to remove were around the top of my cups, so I put vinegar into a bowl and turned the cups upside down into the vinegar. You need the vinegar to cover the stains.

You have to fill the entire cup with vinegar?

Bleach works to remove those stain. You have to wash very well after you used the bleach. If you do not like bleach vinegar and salt.

@lovebuglena I also dislike bleach, I cannot stand the smell. Try with salt and vinegar. You can also try salt and baking soda, make a paste with a little water and rub.

Great question. I not only have fragile teacups, I also have china teapots with their spouts. I wonder if the spout innards are all gunked up?

I would be hesitant to try to get rid of stains from delicate cups.

I work in a kitchen. The stains are mainly from tannins in tea and coffee. We normally soak all cups and tea/coffee pots in detanner before washing them. If you don't want to use a chemical just use a sponge like the one in the picture it gets rid of the stains quickly. Do it every time you use the cup and you won't have any stains.

I used the scrubber part of my non-scratch sponge along with the dish liquid and that doesn't seem to work.

I am using a dishwashing liquid for this issue. One drop of that dishwashing liquid would do the task. Name of the dishwashing liquid, Pril.

One I have, and it is a power degreaser, doesn't work. Maybe I am not scrubbing hard enough.
