Little, Tiny, Nagging Suspicions

United States
October 8, 2021 11:25pm CST
There's a scene in the Truman Show, where he is at a travel agency, and is trying to book a flight to Fiji. On the wall is a poster showing lightning striking a plane with these words in large letters, "this could happen to you." Recently, we had McDonalds delivered and the words on the bag reminded me of that poster in the film. "Going out is overrated" and "aren't you glad you stayed in," are stickers put on the bag. In the movie, Truman was completely controlled by those in charge. Somehow, I have a tiny, nagging suspicion that the same thing is happening to us by "our controllers." Picture is mine.

What interesting insight! I loved that movie (although I really don't like Jim Carrey), but there really are some creepy similarities to our world today.

Good suggestion, though I am not feeling the control really.

Oh wait. Somewhere on our great forum in about May 2020 I did post suggesting the possibility that the Covid 19 virus was infact mostly about global population control , and I cited back then exams of how we were all following the same patterns of behaviour. And people laughed at me.

Yep, maybe so. It is kind of like 1984 I guess.

The tiny, nagging suspicion is a good thing. That means you are prudent.

Yes, we should always be aware or try to be.

We like to believe we are in control of our situations. When something happens to show us otherwise, doubt starts niggling at us. This pandemic is a good example of how control is not in our hands.

I think you definitely on to something there. Scare the bejesus out of us to keep us under the government's control. Spread false information with the media's complete cooperation so we never venture outside our homes again. Destroy our economy to keep us relying on government assistance. Use the virus for political gain. Yes, the country is in a real mess and getting worse each day. Will we ever see the light of day? Not likely with this current administration.

I do not necessarily feel controlled by any group, but by circumstances more than anything.

@DeborahDiane And yet in some countries there has been protest against wearing masks

@allknowing - There are protests here in the U.S. about wearing masks. Many parents do not even want their unvaccinated children to wear a mask. I think they are terrible parents, to risk the lives of their children in that way. I hardly ever see anyone wearing a facemask here in Southern California. It makes me concerned about what is going to happen this winter.

I wouldn't put it past some people like that. I wouldn't really trust them, either.

I'm glad also, but I have always thought they would just start a new show with a new person.

I remember the Truman Show, this should open the eyes of many people. We are already too much controlled.

If true, it's not working very well. People are used to going out and about. That's not going to stop for most people.

@DaddyEvil - I agree with you. Here in Southern California, everyone is doing everything, just the same as before Covid. People are still dying, too, so people are going out in spite of the deaths.

The media is a controller, using fake news to control by fear, doubt and suspicion. But, the facts are factually accurate. The science tells us all that this has become a pandemic of the UNVACCINATED. The variants are able to evolve because unvaccinated and infected people in large numbers provide the medium for the virus which is air borne and fast spreading. The controler can be you. You can control it. You can decide that you do not want to die from Covid-19 or any of the variants by simply social distancing, getting vaccinated and washing your hands. The virus is not the master of our fate. And the politicians are in constant diametric opposition of each other so they too can not be trusted, but the science remains a constant. Bank on the science. The numbers. Be a winner and stay alive. Stay safe and become self educated about COVID.

@misunderstood_zombie - That is a very good insight, and comparing our current lives to The Truman Show is a brilliant comparison.
