We're being day-trippers today

Shortly, we’re going on a bus trip with other members of our over-55s lifestyle village. We thought we had missed out on the trip but someone has cancelled so we’ll be able to go. On our first trip with the group some weeks ago, Vince took his camera and put up some candid shots of the folks at the lunch. He put them up on the village’s FB site and got a lot of lovely comments. He has since been asked to take his camera to another social function and is just about the resident photographer now. We’re going to York which is one of Western Australia’s oldest established towns. We’ll have morning tea there and a chance to do some shopping then we move on to White Gum farm for lunch. We have been to the farm before taking photos at an endurance ride. The photo was taken a few years ago and is of a swinging bridge which is near the centre of the town.

Oh it sounds like a wonderful trip for you guys! I am like @sallypup below and would not walk on that bridge. I have vivid memories of my dad making me walk across one when on vacation and it made me sick to my stomach.

There is a photo of a scarier one on my comment to Daddy Evil. Vince says some photos of heights make him feel instantly nauseous but it doesn't worry me. It's a shame when parents force kids to do scary things.

@JudyEv It was one of those attractions where you have to go over it to get to the other side. Now, it I came across that I'd go back and demand a refund.

@JudyEv I am so glad you can go on the trip. That is great that they loved Vince's photos that they want him to be the resident photographer. Thank you for sharing the picture with us.

@Hannihar They often have bus trips it seems and we went on one about a month ago. They ask for suggestions for outings too.

@JudyEv I am so glad you had a lovely day. Do they have a lot of outings and if you and Vince can will you be going on more? I look forward to reading the posts of what you saw.

Did you and Vince go to the middle of the bridge and make it swing back and forth? I bet a lot of people would love that. (There is a swinging bridge about an hour from our house. It seems like every time we go there someone starts making the bridge swing to hear the other people yell about it. )

Unfortunately we just drove past it this time but we've walked across it before. Vince isn't very keen on such things so sometimes I jump up and down a bit just to hear him yell. This is a scarier bridge at Carrick A Rede in Northern Ireland.

@JudyEv There is not much support underneath or on the sides. I don't like suspension bridges for that reason.

@sallypup And now and then a bridge collapses so you just never know.

The bridge looks very long there but it isn't really that scary although Vince doesn't like it much. lol

I'm very Anglo-centric! When you mentioned York, I immediately remember a riverside pub in York in North Yorkshire.

We have been to York and what a fascinating place. We have many Anglo names here for our towns and places of interest.

@JudyEv Sometimes when I do a search for a village or similar, if I don't add the county I get directed to Canada, usually

That's a really kool photo but I wouldn't want to have to cross that bridge, it would give me the willies.

Others have said that too but it's not nearly as long as it looks. It does 'swing' though.
