You read the title correctly. The CDC admits that the COVID PCR test is unreliable for COVID testing.
They knew this months ago, as far back as July. But they are continuing to give these tests to the public until December 31, 2021. Why you ask? You be the judge.
Many articles are out there to read. Here is one of many. I know you can only post one link per post. So, if you prefer to see the CDC post directly, copy and paste this link:

The story below also has a link to the CDC.
Smoking Gun: The CDC Says that the PCR Test is Invalid. Does not differentiate between Covid-19 and Seasonal Influenza. Does not detect or identify SARS-CoV-2 and its variants. If the PCR test is invalid the 260 Million "Confirmed Covid-19 Cases" collected

I really am not surprised. While I am not calling hoax on the whole thing, I know we've been lied to. A lot. I get science is ever-changing, which is why we're getting new and conflicting information. But, the CDC would also admit masks are useless but continued to recommend them.
All of this is nothing more than politics and money.

@CarolDM Actually the government is lying to us to control our behavior. Fear is a big motivator!

@CarolDM You realize it's not terribly difficult for someone who knows how to write ignorant things and make it appear that an intelligent person has posted it, right? Misinformation is rife across the internet.

I am not in the least bit surprised. But that would explain why they went from "you can take your masks off" on May 13 to "put your masks back on" about a month and a half or so later.

When I was sick in late August, early September, I had two, actually 3 of the rapid tests in about ten days time. I had a doctor appointment for something else and the Doctor tested me again, telling me her test was much more accurate, and it was for about six different things, anyway. My school nurse was annoyed, but I was glad to get the better test.

Unbelievable, but I'm not surprised. I have no trust in our government.

The government agencies have been spreading misinformation about this virus from the very beginning. Instead of using science, they are using this disease as a political opportunity to keep us reliant on them. The media is no better. I just heard Rachel Maddow from MSNBC had stated on her show without any facts to support it that if you got the vaccine, you could not get infected. She is receiving backlash from viewers but refuses to apologize for spreading false information.

Well, that’s half true. There have been better tests developed that have left this one in the dust. Their EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) expires at the end of 2021. Having said that, they should have announced this long ago and not two days before the EUA expires.
But that’s the government for you. There was a stomach medicine that was taken off the market in March of one year. It took until OCTOBER for the VA to tell me to stop taking it….conveniently when they’d exhausted their supply.

I am not sure if it referred to a PCR test or the rapid one, but some people got tested and it said they were positive but they actually didn't have covid.

Its a particular brand of PCR test thats not working.
The CDC has announced it will no longer request authorisation for one type of PCR test. It is recommending others instead because they are more efficient.
