It was all good, except

It was not good when I left the house. The little snow we had melted yesterday, then froze on all surfaces overnight. I was safely out the door, down the steps, and was headed for the car. Got past the front sitting area, stepped over the landscape timber, hit a patch of ice on the lawn! OUCH! I had to get up and keep going, but I rapidly developed a huge lump on my leg. I am pretty sure I did not break anything, but you know how people say they get a "goose egg" from a bruise? Well I would say I got an ostrich egg. Later hubby sent me for a nap, with an ice pack, before we went out to eat. The swelling has diminished some. I will wear my tall boots tomorrow. They come up high enough to protect my shin from myself. Other than that I had a good day.

I love watching it snow, but I hate ice. It's so sneaky and tricky. So sorry you fell, but glad you aren't hurt. I fell twice over the weekend, once while taking the dog out, another while retrieving a trash can that wanted to blow away. The first time, I fell on my behind and other than a sore rear, it's ok. The second time I made the mistake of catching myself with one hand, so now I have some blood blisters on one palm. But that beats breaking anything, so I am ok with that. I didn't put my snow boots on and I should have, so it's my own fault.

@marlina I enjoy snow, especially when it comes down in those big, fluffy flakes. Makes me feel cozy to be inside and watch it when I don't have to go anywhere. But I really, really don't like ice. Thank you.

@RubyHawk I used to do gymnastics rather poorly in college. Had lots of technicolor bruises.

The swelling is going down. Hubby says resting helps it. I also am taking Over the Counter pain remedies, plus I rubbed it with voltaren gel last night.

You fell because of the ice. It really hurts. Fortunately, it snowed a few times before. I'm very careful. You should be careful in the future

I think the ice did help. I feel like the leggings I was wearing provided some compression as well. Nothing is broken, but I imagine I will have a brightly colored bruise in a day or two.

Tall boots? You aren't talking about boots like Julia Roberts wore in "Pretty Woman" are you? (Those are called a certain name here, but notice I didn't say what they are called. )

You got a good husband! Do take care. I cut myself with a razor, I was using to cut my lotion bottle that wouldn't pump any lotion. I put Bactine on it right away. We got to be more careful.

Feel better, I hope? Good for you on the tall boots tomorrow. Our parking lot here is like a skating rink this time of year. Scary. I won't be going anywhere any time soon. Not until spring.

It was nice to eat out. For quite a while hubby has not had an appetite, so he was happy to eat his entire order. I had a quesadilla filled with lovely grilled vegetables. My leg seems to be better and it has only been about 36 hours.
