Have you ever heard this saying?:
"Red sky in morning, sailor take warning. Red sky at night, sailor's delight."
This sunrise picture was taken the morning before the big snowstorm that hit NE Ohio among other states. That red sky was letting us know that there was a big change coming in the weather!

It means when the sunrise is red, there is bad weather coming. When the sunset is red, there is good weather coming.

I’ve heard this saying before. It was weather forecasting 101 from back in the days before there was weather forecasting websites and meteorologists! Lol

@LindaOHio I do remember as a kid living on the beach in south Florida some kind of saying about a yellow sky foreboding the arrival of a hurricane. Or something like that.

Nope I've never heard that saying, Linda. But, it's probably true, the red sky in the morning take warning!

@LindaOHio Some of those saying, we kid around about them. Back in the days, it was accepted as a warning!

@LindaOHio I come from a long line of military folk. My dad was in the navy 23 years. My sister was in the air force for 10. My grandfather was in the army and my uncle was in the marines. Lots of patriots.

Never heard that song. The picture is beautiful and kind of tells about longer days and Spring in sight.
So are you having below zero temperatures?

We haven't had any below zero temperatures yet (Fahrenheit). A lot of days below freezing though.

The sky should have been redder to match the huge storm that we got. :-)

Thankfully the sailors were out at sea and not in northeastern Ohio
I've heard that expression. A good day to be a sailor.

That is a very pretty sky....although I guess we'd rather those colors at night!
