Would You Participate in a Sport Called Skeleton?

Zipping down a curving track of ice headfirst at speeds of up to 80 mph (129 kph) on a tiny sled is not a sport I am keen to try.
Then I remember going down the best sledding hill in my neighborhood when we still lived in New England. This was before my dad got out of the Navy and we moved home to NC. I had a Flexible Flyer Sled much like the one in the picture. It was a steep hill and at the bottom was a six-foot chain-link fence surrounding a factory. You had to make a tight turn at the bottom to avoid crashing into that fence. Usually, we wound up making a hard turn and rolling off into the snow.
I never crashed into the fence. Some sledders did. We were so bundled up, though, that no one got hurt.
Had the sport of Skeleton still been included in the Olympics in the 1960s, the young me that road that Flexible Flyer down that hill might have given it a shot.
Note: Skeleton was included in the Olympics back in 1928 and 1948 before beind discontinued. It was brought back in 2002 at the Salt Lake City Olympics. (Thanks Google.)

Now that is fun. I never did do that skeleton the game, but heard of that. When we did it we actually used those metal trash bin tops. They were cleaned so do not get grossed out and plus that is how poor people do it.

No thank you since I am afraid of crashing into walls at high speeds.

@Deepizzaguy I'm always amazed when I see them crash on the Olympics that the sledder gets up, shakes it off, and walks away most of the time. Those athletes have to be in amazing shape to take a hit like that and keep going.

@DWDavis I have seen what it looks like based on either cartoons or comic books that crashing at a high speed on a sled is bad news.

I was just watching that last night. Skeleton would no be my cup of tea. I went tubing one time on the snow at a small ski resort.I was dragging my foot the whole time. Not my idea of fun.

That would be a hard no. I will try most things, but I like being in control, thanks.

That is the one sport I really enjoy watching in the Olympics and it really takes my breath away but I love the adrenaline rush I get seeing them go down, Always remind be of that funny scene in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation when Chevy Chase goes done on that metal dish and zooms way too fast,
