Dressing Up or Down.

Do you like dressing up or are you a mostly casual wear kind of person? Some women like to look smart even when going to the market. With summer just around the corner, what kind of clothes would be your typical everyday wear? Could be slacks, jeans, T shirts , skirts , dresses , shorts, high heels , low heels - what do you feel comfortable wearing ? And what colors do you absolutely never wear? Image from pixabay .

I wear just about any color. But I have extremely minimal amount of clothes for the entire year. All of my clothes would fit in one backpack. And that is the way I want it. In summer you will find me with my trusty shorts. Long ago I had the ultimate in fashion and variety.

I wear what I like and what is comfortable, and the older I get the more I just want to be comfortable. I don't like dressing up.

As people become more mature in age so do their clothes , but many still enjoy dressing up. The important thing is pleasing yourself, wearing what you are comfortable in.

@Kandae11 That's it exactly. Sometimes it drives my wife insane. But that doesn't bother me either. That's part of a husband's job. lol

I like to dress up, not extremely elegant, but nicely dressed even when I go to the market. During summer I mainly wear dresses, medium/high heels or low heels if I have to walk for a while My favorite colors are pastel colors, I do not look well in too bright colors. Pale yellow, pink, salmon, ivory, baby blue all those colors are fine for me.

@Kandae11 I lov white, particularly for summer is one of my favorite. I had many pretty white dresses when I was younger. This one in the photo is a bit too much dressed up to go to the market.

When I worked I dressed up and looked forward to the weekends when I could dress down, Now that I'm retired I enjoy being able to dress casually on a daily basis. As for summer weather I like to be barefoot and slip into sandals when I go out. For attire you'll find me in capris and a short sleeve T shirt type top. My favorite color is blue so I wear a lot of that but you won't find me in bright orange or green.

I always dress down. I hate having to get dressed up. And I never wear orange. It looks absolutely awful on me. Or rather, it makes me look absolutely awful.

I'm all about comfort so high heels are totally out. Dresses can be cumbersome when it's hot because I sweat and I hate that my thighs get sweaty and makes a funny noise when I walk.

Depends on the occasion. If its just the usual going out to the market or errands, casual is fine. I wear any colors, any print, any design and I am a dress kind of girl. I rarely wear jeans.

I was married for years to a man who had a professional position. Had to go to events and conferences and such with him, and social events, The people all dressed to impress. I hated it. I mean, HATED it. When I got divorced from him, I kept a few dress clothes, but not many. The last year I have lost a lot of weight, so the rest of them were gladly donated. I really don't care if I ever dress up again. I wear jeans, very casual outfits, practical, comfortable shoes. I wear what I love to wear, not what everyone else expects me to wear. Everyone should wear what they want to, not what they are expected to, as long as I am clean and decent and well groomed, that's all I care about now. My kids are pretty much the same, their Dad burnt them out on dressing up and being way to fancy and materialistic.

Well said , I do agree. It is everyone's right to be comfortable, wearing what suits them and pleases them I have heard office workers complain bitterly about having to wear a uniform to the office, especially when the color chosen is not their color or the style of the uniform does not suit their body type.

@Kandae11 Well, the advantage of a uniform is most times it's supplied without cost, so a person doesn't have to buy work clothing.

@Kandae11 During the week I like to wear a casual outfit which includes a skirt and possibly a t-shirt and a hat and earrings. On Saturday which is the Jewish Sabbath, I like to have a dress or jumper on to wear and also a nicer hat and earrings too. It is a special day so I like to look nice.

I think I'm more dress-casual. If I'm just around the house I wear old clothes. These are usually still presentable clothes but they are older, washer worn, stains or holes and I like a specific kind of knit pant for around the house. Sometimes I will run errands in my house-wear if it is something quick. For things where I have to be out and about I prefer either jeans or jean-capris (I dislike shorts.) and a tshirt (plain colors or band logo or tie dye) or a nicer top. Seldom I wear dresses or skirts but they really are comfortable

When I'm at home or when I'm shopping I just wear casual blouses and trousers. When I go to Church I wear a dress. I'm not keen on green but I do have a green dress that is kind of a jade shade and that's an OK shade so I don't mind that.
