Senior moment #8,292 for The Horse. Have you ever made this "cognitive error"?

I was trying to post a simple response to @Vandana7 this morning. This is what I came up with: @vandana7 I try to "present" as a redneck. You know that term, right? Knowbody (sic) knows I'm a bed-wetting former Liberal, bent on saving the world for the poop...dang, I meant "poor"..and oppressed. "Knowbody knows"? I do this kind of thing all the time, both in writing and in speech. I am "thinking ahead," and my fingers or tongue type or say what I was thinking, not what I intended to type or say. I do this with greater frequency in my dotage than I did when I was younger. Does this happen to you? I may have written about this a few months ago, but I cannot remember for sure (#8,293). I also not (note--ed) that I am more prone to "Freudian slips" in my old age. I typed "poop" when I meant to type "poor." (#8,294) Is this because I am soon to visit the throne and read Calvin and Hobbes? Or because I am poop-obsessed, and see pooping as one of my greatest pleasures? Inquiring Freudians want to know. What kinds of "cognitive errors" are you most likely to produce, either in writing or in speech?

I've caught myself typing "eht" instead of "the" a lot lately, as well as writing other words backwards. At least my laptop tells me when I do that. At a guess, I'd say you're as poop obsessed as @vandana7 is. Notice I said, "At a guess."

Well, "s" and "t" are only about three inches apart.

Heh. I've made a few "late onset dyslexia" errors recently as well.

I thought "Knowbody knows" might have been a deliberate play on words. In fact I thought poop was as well. My fingers often get crossed up or ssttuttter, or leave a g ap in words. I alsway trie to go back and correct these errors when I am commenting to responses on my discussions.

It happens to me when I edit. The first time expression goes wrong. When I re-read it, I feel this is not how I wanted to say this. So I edit and then blunders get invited.

I am very happy to read your post. That means that I am not alone. Lately I coined the sentence that I was still intelligent BECAUSE i accepted the several "cognitive errors" (I like yor way of saying it) I have lately.

@TheHorse Your language doesn´t help us, ol´ people. And it is worst when our native language is not English. I have never understood the use of 2 consonants together when one is more than enough. Or why some words need capital letters. (Look at the word "letter". Why not use one "t"). Or why the names of the week have to be written with a capital letter at the beginning. I could go on. Only my nice friends here make me write in English here (why not "right" or "rite" or as we would write in Spanish "rait")

I think it's the worst when the word I'm "thinking" starts with the same letter(s)/sounds as the word that I'm typing or saying. I'm surprised I didn't type "I think it's the when..."

I make those blunders all the time...but I still forgive me because I don't know English or Americanese or Canadianese, or Australianese or New Zealandese. You, on the other hand, are doing unforgivable crime.

I can type at the speed of my thoughts . . . these days I just tend to skip words when I type . It's a like a hiccup happened while a brain wave was getting to the fingers .

@TheHorse Knowledge is key. We type on many keys - that's a lot of knowledge. You do good.

Well, that's why you should re-read what you've typed before you post it. Have you heard about poop transplants?

Oh, those Freudian slips. I think I am close to 5 digits in my senior moments. I will tell one for instance: I have my cell phone in my hand. My daughter comes in and we are talking. Something in the conversation I want to check online so I am looking around the room for my cell phone.

I usually intend to say what I think, but it might take too many words to get my point across, ending up leaving a few "cognitive errors" down the path. It's okay, those who know me will understand nevertheless. I thought you thought the poor were poop?

@sabtraversa The poor may be poop in Trump's eyes, but my personal philosophies are Christian-based. It's our job to help them out.

I know that sometimes I type the wrong letter, I have "seniors moments". I bring inside grocery, I put stuff in the refrigerator and cabinets, but it happens that I put in the refrigerator things that should go in the drawers or the cabinets. Go find them later in the day!

I never felt your language and Maluse's language go wrong...no typos from you two, and even JJ. And even DE. And Gary Marsh. Some take extra pains I guess. I am lazy. I think losing glasses, pencils, pens, keys, and umbrellas is only to be expected. If we don't then we are abnormal. I have not put anything that needs to be refrigerated in drawers or vice versa...SO FAR...I cannot speak for the future...but time will come. I only hope I don't put my shoes or undergarments there..

@LadyDuck Phew ..so you agree that Pony mocks...everybody thinks he is so nice...I was kidding about shoes and undergarments...I wonder if anybody has done something like that. My father once put his pliers in the fridge.

@vandana7 I made a typo a couple of days ago on a post of Pony, I wrote "I sewed" instead that "I sawed", of course he mocked me. I put the coffee mug in the refrigerator two days ago. I was answering to my husband, the cupboard is just on the left side of the refrigerator, it took a moment to find it. I will never put my shoes or undergarments there, those are not things that I would bring to the kitchen.

Odd things happen to me when I get inspired by poetry then my fingers fly over the keys and when they stop I have to reread what it was I wrote, Sometime I swear it was my daddy working my fingers because he was a poet and I can tell his style in my works.

@TheHorse it sort of warms my heart and makes me smile because I also write posts on Vocal about my dad and have taken an attempt at translating his poetry which was all in Latvian.

@RasmaSandra What languages resemble Latvian? My "pretend son" spoke Croatian, but I do not hear from him any more. Still, a part of our discussions will be a part of "him" moving forward.

I’ve made those kind of mistakes. Often I get typing and will miss the last letter of a word….writing phot for photo, It’s the misread signs that can be hysterical.

I tend to put an "e" at the ends of some words that would make a different word. I guess you could say I have done it for a long time, but it is definitely becoming more common in the last couple'a years. I sometimes also put a "d" at the ends of words that do end in an "e."

I've written about it before but, if you're like me, you will have forgotten reading it, . I keep writing 'can' instead of 'can't', 'do' instead of 'don't', 'should' instead of 'shouldn't'. All these, of course, totally change the meaning of the sentence. And I forget words now when I'm speaking to people. It's really annoying - and embarrassing.

I am most likely to pronounce things that have similar starting letters wrong, for example in conducting choir and I try to say "part"... well, "p" is unfortunately a lot like "f". Say that in front of a bunch of middle schoolers.

I too think faster than I can type or write. I just make typos which I then correct. At least I try and catch them.
