My husband uses Facebook a lot more than I do and one of his FB ‘memories’ that popped up this morning was of the motor-home we bought on this day in Ireland in 2015. We bought it second-hand and toured through England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany and the Czech Republic for five months.
In 2017, we had another three months in it. This was the only way we could afford to be away so long - by having our accommodation with us and being able to make many of our own meals. Towards the end of our 2017 trip, we ran against a barrier and put a small slit in the fibreglass side. It didn’t stop us using it and we kept it till the very last day. However, the insurance company wrote the vehicle off and we got back what we paid for it.
I have very fond memories of this vehicle.
The photo is of the bus parked somewhere in the Pyrenees in France.

It was the only way we could afford to stay away so long. It was a wonderful trip. Originally, we planned to sell the van at the end of 2015 but we enjoyed travelling so much we kept it at my son's until 2017 when we did another three months.

That should have been a wonderful tour on your motor home. I can definitely imagine the amount of driving you had.

We didn't really have an itinerary. We just headed wherever we wanted to go.

Glad you have those memories!!! most of my memories of traveling are i had gone on some business trips with my sister and mom many years ago. all those trips weren't very far.
When I was younger and couldn't stay home alone and i had to go shopping every Sunday with my parents, i begged my parents for a motorhome all the time for the bathroom as i hated using the public bathrooms. My parents never did buy one.....

This is a wonderful way of having a holiday. My best friends just got back from one month in Spain and rented a motor home. As you say, the trip was less expensive as they could make most of their meal there and the campings in Europe are generally very clean.

We did get it stuck in a little French village trying to avoid some road works. We had to back out round several tight bends to get back on a wider road. We also had to take careful note of the clearance height of bridges too as we were pretty high.

A very nice motor-home. It's a great way to travel and cost saving too.
