You had better be ready. . .

I was outside, preparing for some yard work. The weather was pleasant yesterday afternoon, then Bob called. He said "Are you sitting down?" and I said "No". "Well he said, there's this nurse here who tells me that she is working on the paperwork to get me outa here today." Monday. Bob had hoped for Monday, but had been told Tuesday (today) by the doctor. I was going to get up early and go, in order to be ready. Instead, I got out of my yard clothes, brushed my hair and headed for Wichita yesterday afternoon. Stopped to put gas in the car. It still took until almost seven to get out of there, but they had to have him take th e new medicine and wait a while, to make sure he did not have a bad reaction. They local hospital prefers he come in the afternoon for his treatment. He will go one time a day. The PICC line allows them to "push" the medicine into his veins rather than the 4 hour IV drip. This is good. He will do it for six weeks. Of course there will be follow up appointments, etc. but Bob is so glad to be in his own bed, with no lights or interruptions. He was glad to see all the cats. Except Tinker, who is out and about, still. Bob was so glad to get out of there. He even drove part of the way home.

I'm glad you could pick him up yesterday and bring him home! I'm sure he's happy to be home, too! Yeah, I was told I'd have to be at the doctor's office two hours tomorrow when they give me the shot of Xolair for the first time. (That's okay since I was worried about having an allergic reaction to meds the first time I take them. The nurse told me to bring an epi-pen with me, just in case. Pretty already carries an epi-pen for me in her purse.)

You have to provide your own epi-pen?

@BarBaraPrz Yes. Every time the pharmacy called telling me they were going to have the med ready for me, they asked if I had an epi-pen to bring with me. (I think different people called at least 4 times before the med arrived yesterday and they confirmed the time for me to arrive.)

Six weeks of medications pushed in is long, but at least he will be home, he can sleep in his bed, enjoy the food he likes and relax and you too.

@GardenGerty That would have been horrible, six weeks is a very long time.

@GardenGerty I see, but your husband home with you, mostly, nice. There's no place like home and your caring arms. Speedy recovery for your husband!

I once mentioned that there's no place like home. And that's the genuine feeling that Bob would have.

@GardenGerty Actually I haven't started yet. I thought they would give the meds last week, but they will nest week. It's just a pill I have to take everyday. My mother had treatment for it too and she had to take a shot and a pill. It made her crazy. They say now that the new medicine is better.

I'm so glad Bob is home. He will have to go for treatments every day? How far is Wichita?

Wichita is 57 miles, but he will only go to the local clinic, about twelve miles, for his daily treatment.
