Running my dishwasher.

Not just because my dishes needed washing, but because it is a soothing sound to me. I practiced some Miles Davis (piano) and Guns 'n Roses (guitar) today but mostly just lazed around. I never really found my mojo. I did get some grocery shopping done--that was a good thing. I look forward to sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be less dreary and cool. Are there certain household sounds that soothe you? The dishwasher is one for me.

But... we all know Kitty "does" all your dishes for you. Doesn't she just purr?? My bedroom is too far from any major appliance for me to hear them. (They were in the last house, too.) But, I always leave a fan running in my bedroom so I can feel the air stirring around me as I sleep.

It tends to get cool and comfortable here at night, even on hot days.

@TheHorse I see... Once in a while, I open the doors and windows to let a breeze blow through, if it's not humid outside. It normally IS humid here, so to get a breeze, I leave the fan running. (It's always 72F in the house.)

I do not like the sound of the dishwasher, but I like the sound of the fan blowing fresh air on me.

@TheHorse The temperature went over 93 F yesterday, but we had a thunderstorm during the night. It rained again today and now it is a pleasant day.

@LadyDuck I love thunderstorms. We rarely have them here in California. They were a part of my childhood in the Midwest.

The dryer is soothing I guess. It's going to be 91 today and tomorrow. Would gladly send you some heat if you need/want it! Happy 4th of July!

Miles Davis was the Bebop player? Correct me if I'm wrong, been ages not playing his song.

@TheHorse Ouch, sorry about that. I am not sure about the spelling too. Like Bop or something, But yeah, into jazz family that Miles Davis right?

It has been a while since I have had a dishwasher. It would sound soothing, I suppose. I like fans, and the air conditioner right now. I like hearing Bob watch TV in the next room as well.

I haven't got a dishwasher so I can't say. Other household noises don't soothe me.

My favorite would have to be the sound of rain. Not a household noise, but I find it soothing. I turn off the music when it's raining outside.

@TheHorse Yes, rain is good when it does't come together with thunder and lightning.

I wouldn't run it just for the sound it makes. I know we're all different but I would find that a waste of water and power. But you go for it if you find it soothing.

Well, I did add some dishes. And coffee cups. And my frying pan. And a few other things. My kitchen sink was getting stinky.

I did have a dishwasher back when I lived in my trailer. It was the first time I had one. But then it broke. Now I don't have one. This isn't a household sound, but purring soothes me.

I mostly like peace and quiet, especially when it comes to my "music time." My mics pic up everything and so if there are appliances at work, they become a part of my recording. And that irritates me. lol
