No Heart Disease!

I posted last week about needing prayer for some upcoming medical tests I was having regarding my heart. I was an absolute wreck about these tests because I had an abnormal EKG last Tuesday. After days filled with tremendous anxiety, I had my husband bring me to the ER Monday morning because I was having some symptoms similar to when I had my original heart attack. Fortunately, I was not having a second heart attack, but when you go to the ER with shortness of breath, dizziness, and feeling as though your throat is closing up after you have already had 1 heart attack, they pretty much always keep you for observation. So I stayed in the hospital overnight Monday night and they ran those tests on me. The good news is: I don't have heart disease and I don't have clogged arteries!!! Thank you GOD! I do have a small amount of plaque and the doctor said that we will take care of that with medication. Speaking of medication, they did find out that my heart rate drops very low when I am sleeping or when my body is at rest...like sitting in a hospital bed, but awake. I think it might be my blood pressure medication making that happen because it can cause a slower heartbeat, and cause dizziness and lightheadedness, the 2 symptoms that started this whole thing in the first place. The doctor cut my blood pressure medication in half, I need to keep track of my blood pressure over the next 5 days, and I will go see her for a follow-up on Monday. Thank you for all of your prayers. I am SO relieved I don't have heart disease or any blocked arteries!

That is truly wonderful news. Even though you had to spend the night there, it was worth it to hear that! I hope your follow-up goes well and this can put your mind at ease a bit.

@MarieCoyle Thanks, but it's my own fault. This has shown me that I really need to look into getting major medical insurance. Live and learn as they say. I have 3 more years before I qualify for Medicare.

@MarieCoyle Yes, well I don't have major medical insurance so I am paying out of pocket, but they give me a big discount at this hospital. It is a huge relief though and worth the money to know I am okay.

Oh thank goodness - what a relief! Interesting that quite a few people I know had to have their BP meds cut in half - similar issues.

@Kouponkaren Well my dad felt super lightheaded - he actually fell off the bed. His blood pressure got too low and he couldn't hold himself up. And his feet were getting super cold.

@much2say Really? I wish I didn't have to be on meds at all. But I think my blood pressure would be sky high without them.

Glad to know that you don't have any heart problems. It's always better to take tests if you have any doubts and when you have a history of heart attacks.

@sjvg1976 Yes, once I had that heart attack, it really has made me very cautious about preventing another one.

I am really glad for the good news, now you can relax. A small plaque is nothing serious and you will get rid of it.

@LadyDuck I asked the doctor about getting rid of it, and I did some research online. Apparently, you can't get rid of it, but with medication and lifestyle/diet you can prevent it from growing larger.

@Kouponkaren The only way to remove the plaque in the arteries is through surgery, but from now on you can try to eat food that can lower the risk of plaque.

@misunderstood_zombie I have been thanking God that I don't have heart disease. I never really knew after the first heart attack if I officially had it or not. The first heart attack was not caused by heart disease. It was a stress heart attack.

@DesirousDreamer Yes, the waiting to get the tests was causing me so much anxiety so even though having to go in the hospital wasn't exactly convenient, at least I actually know what's going on. And I can relax.

@Kandae11 Thanks. Me too. I wish I could have just relied on my faith, which I thought was pretty strong, but my brain and my anxiety paralyzed me and got in the way.

The primary reason might be bacteria or viruses present in your blood stream.
