Why?

I know this isn't the first discussion to talk about this and I have seen several people having the same sentiments as I do. Why? Why do people keep following users when they don't even bother to engage in a conversation with the person they're following? They don't even like the discussion of those people they follow? Why? Do they only want to read and not bother to interact? Do they think mylot is Facebook or twitter and they just love to browse through the discussions? Is it because they want to be followed back and want a higher number of followers? Or is it simply because they don't know how mylot works at all? When I follow someone, I make sure it's someone that I would interact with whenever I am active here.

I think people follow us because on Fb following people is "the thing you do"... I'm not on Fb, so don't care about following anyone. I find all the discussions by checking "Most Recent Discussions". I tell people they only need to follow two people on myLot. One is myLotBugs and the other is GAA.

The number of followers here in mylot doesn't determine ones popularity or increase in earnings. It's the engagement or the interaction that matters most. And yes I do use the most recent discussions tab to find discussions that I could engage in.

@DaddyEvil And most of them think that their post can only be seen by their followers. Because it's that way in other sites. I know someone from another site before who joined here I think two years ago. And without interacting she kept posting and posting discussions like what she does in another site. And then she disappeared in mylot. I guess she got frustrated that she didn't earn a single cent. I have no idea who invited her here without explaining how mylot works. I tried left a comment on her post but she just ignored them.

@toniganzon Yes, that's true... But newbies don't understand that. Most of them start off thinking that the more they post, the more money they make, too. I try to explain to them about making money here, too, but usually they don't listen.

There's this online culture that suggests the more followers you have the more popular you are. While this does matter on sites like Facebook or Twitter, it doesn't here. But those same users bring that same mindset here. I will admit, I don't browse through my followers, and keep up on what they're doing. But I also skim through discussions and only respond to those I feel I can engage in.

@toniganzon Yeah. I know I could do that. I just chose not to. I typically stick to the most recent discussions tab most. But, it also depends on how much effort I want to put here in a given day.

@toniganzon That's true. I have far more followers than I actually follow.

@kaylachan Right. That's why I follow only people close to my heart coz they're worthy of that effort. If I only want to stick to the most recent discussions then there's no need for me to follow anybody.

This is a good question. Even here in myLot we have new users who join, follow some other users and they do nothing, They do not engage in conversations, they do not post, they do nothing!

Very true. They'd rather add people on their list first before they do anything. Probably thinking that the more they follow or the more followers they have, the more success they would be in here. They simply know nothing about how mylot actually works. This isn't Facebook nor any other paying sites where your chances of success or earnings is dependent on your followers.

@LadyDuck Sad but true that they compare mylot to those type of social media. Most of those users also came from other sites where followers is a must for earning high.

@toniganzon They surely think that it's like YouTube or Facebook where it seems that only having followers matter.

I think some newbies 'follow' a lot of people while they try to work out how the whole myLot thing works.

Yes, and that's not the first thing to be done when you are new in mylot. I think the very first thing is to read the guidelines. And then go to the most recent discussions and interact to topics you find interesting. That way people will get to know you more. And if you have interesting to discuss, post your own discussion. But a lot of newbies think mylot is like any other paying sites or apps where the first thing you do, is to follow tons and expect those to follow you back before making any move. They think their post won't be seen if nobody is following them.

I don't know how to interact with my followers. I only scroll through as many discussions as I can in the different categories of discussions and respond to them.

I get frustrated with people who follow lots of people, but do not put up posts, or comment or respond. There is nothing to follow, how can I possibly follow them?

When I get interested in someone's post here, I usually follow them but I do not always like or interact with them every time they post something. If I do get interested in the topic only. I know I have many here which I followed but I haven't had the time to interact simply because I am not interested in their post anymore or just too many and I seldom see them post anymore.

I am the same. But the few people I follow, I normally interact with them. Coz they are the people who posts things that I know I have something to say about.

I've been on and off on this platforms and whenever I returned all my notifications is always blank which is very obvious so my only options is to go directly to most recent and and Hot discussion. Besides I make sure to check from the Follow and their discussion

I tried to follow more people so I can interact with them. But for some reason they don't reply to me or maybe I have ignored them before on my old posts.

There's really no need to follow them to interact. As long as they are active and they post their own discussions, you can see them in most recent discussions. I only follow those close to my heart.

I think I actually take things maybe to the extreme, but that is how I am, When I come on here, I interact and read as much as I can however if, during that time, there are some people I usually interact with, and I have not seen anything written by them I will go and search for them just to see if they did a post and what they are up to.

I do the same. The people I follow are those that are close to my heart. And after going through my notifications, I go to the people I follow's discussions. After I'm done with their discussions, I go to the most recent discussions to explore users I'm not following.

I don't follow back unless I have interacted with that person. Besides, I don't need to follow to interact with people's discussion when they put up something interesting. All I have to do is go to explore tab and tap on recent discussions. I prefer exploring. But I do follow my very close friends here who i'eve been friends with for a decade.

@toniganzon ,I also like explore most recent discussions, although there is most hot discussion,i don't really like most hot discussion, many persons comment on most hot discussion, but the discussion was not necessarily most wonderful and not necessarily my type.I just care about my close friends's action.

In my case, I follow people here but I am not very active here. One day I am here, the next days I am not. SO I cannot really follow and interact with more people. Only those that I see on Most Recent Discussion when I am online.
