Stranger than fiction

I was reading the local paper here at our house-sit in Grass Valley, Western Australia. The paper is published monthly in Northam, the nearest large centre and, as would be expected, includes obituaries of local who have died recently. One life-long resident died at 92 but the interesting snippet in the obituary was that, when she was born in the Northam hospital, they were short of cots and she was placed with another baby in the one cot. That baby had been born three days earlier and later became her husband. Talk about meeting your life partner at a young age! As I said in the title, you couldn’t make this stuff up and have people believe you. The photo was taken on one of our daily walks with Dixie, the border collie. You can see her on the track patiently waiting for us to catch up.

This is an incredible and nice story. They surely met very young. I had to enlarge the photo to see Dixie.

@JudyEv Can you believe that the cat I adopted does the same. He comes with me in the garden, looks if I am going up the stairs and go ahead, then stops and check if I am really following.

@LadyDuck They are so funny when they do that. Dixie gets so excited when we come out together around mid-morning but if only one person comes out she doesn't show the same interest. And we've started spelling out W A L K sometimes. lol

She is a funny dog. She runs on ahead but then waits for us. Sometimes she comes back to see why we are taking so long!

That's stranger than fiction. I wonder if they knew each other as children or met later as adults.

More than likely they went to school together so would have always known each other.

She must have been thinking how slow humans are. Kool photo though. Wow, they must have bonded when they were in that cot together.

Well yeah, I would consider it fiction. Then again how many people lived in their town at the time, that could have had something to do with it. How long ago did she pass?

If it came up in a novel, you'd poo-poo the idea.

@rebelann Only a month or so ago. It's written up in the local paper. It was true, not made up.

It's a wonder she doesn't lose patience with us sometimes. We stop to look at this and that, and to take photos.
