Anchovies? - Yes or No

Anchovies are oily fish found in temperate waters. There are more than 140 species which range in size from 1-15.5". They can be found in Worcestershire sauce, Caesar salad dressing and on top of pizzas. They are a common food in Southeast Asian countries, among others. I'm not a big fish fan; and I definitely don't want to have an oily fish on top of my pizza. I do use Worcestershire sauce in cooking, however. Do you like anchovies? How do you use them? I haven't eaten them, but the worst part is the smell! One time I made our then young grandson Josh take his tin of anchovies outside to eat. Dale felt sorry for him and let him eat them in the kitchen. Wait. Was that anchovies or sardines? I don't remember now!

One thing I did like back in my navy days was canned kippered herring, and it used to drive the other guys in the compartment nuts...stuck up the whole place. Have not eaten them in years though. lol

Fresh fried anchovies are delicious, a lot better than sardines and fried catfish that tastes like mud.

@TheSojourner I think you are right, fresh anchovies do not taste like poor quality anchovies in a tin In Spain they serve grilled anchovies as appetizers with their tapas and they are absolutely delicious I think that also octopus is not something American loves Fresh tuna bakes, or simply seared in a pan with a little olive oil garlic and fresh rosemary is delicious

I like anchovies but sometimes those that are jarred are way too salty.

I am not a fan of them at all. But of course if they are in things and I am not eating the actual fish, I am fine with it. But I am right there with you. Never on a pizza, ever.

No!! Not intentionally, that is. If it’s hiding as an ingredient in something I used that’s okay as long as I can’t taste it.

Vince likes them but I find them very salty. We use Worcestershire sauce and I've seen anchovies on pizzas but that's about the limit of my experience.

A Big fishy "No" on that one. My dad and older brother were the anchovy eaters in my family. At one time pizza with anchovies was very popular. But non-Italians were not fond of fish on their pizza, so they became less popular. Although nutritious I say hold the anchovies for me!
