Ice Cream vs Sherbet

Have been cleaning most of the day. Decided it was time to stop for now. I might pick it back up tomorrow. Always something to do for sure. Just had a small bowl of orange sherbet. Did you know these differences between ice cream and sherbet? ... *Ice-cream contains almost 50 percent milk or cream, while sherbet contains a maximum of 2% cream or milk. *Ice-cream is based on a dairy product, like milk, cream or butterfat, while sherbet is based on fruit puree. I like them both but rarely have ice cream. I like the light taste of sherbet. Orange is a favorite flavor, although raspberry and rainbow are enjoyed too. Do you like sherbet or ice cream or neither? Photo is mine. Three scoops of sherbet in my bowl.

@DaddyEvil I think the hot weather this summer has something to do with it. Sherbet is lighter.

I used to really like those flavors too and still do, but lately sherbet is what I have enjoyed.

I do love sherbet. I actually like to put my sherbet in a cup or glass and add a little bit of a 7-Up or Sprite something bubbly and mix it around. I do love ice cream mint chocolate chip or a good coffee ice cream but it tends to upset my stomach.

@CarolDM Aw looks like we have more in common! Yes has to be the right one! Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream used to be my favorite. And they sold it in little small one scoop containers.

@SonjaRae The more we talk the more we learn. How cool is that! OMG I would buy the little pint sized of the Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream.

I used to make those for Dustin and his friends. Such good memories you just reminded me of. Thanks for that. And oh yes, coffee ice cream is the best, if you can find the right one.

Photo looks awesome!! Honestly first time I am hearing about sherbet. But as you mentioned it contains more part of fruit and puree, it must tastes delicious. I guess Icecream is the only famous thing here.

I like them both, usually I buy sherbets in summer, as they are lighter choice. Mango sherbet is one of my favorite.

So what's the difference between a sherbet and a sorbet? Or are they different names for the same thing?

Unlike sherbet or ice cream, sorbet does not contain any dairy or eggs whatsoever.

The scoops look delicious! I prefer Sherbets from some local brands. The mixed fruit ones are popular here. But we also have Rose and a few 9ther varieties. Ice Creams are something we prefer during Extreme Heat or slightly dry weather. Normally we avoid them during rains and winters.

I enjoy the fruity zip of sherbet. And the decadent, creamy flavour of the iced moo juice. I'd pick Sherbet, but would take ice cream any day of the week.

My mom always called it "sherbert" (with an "r") growing up. I did know it was different. Is sherbet the same as sorbet?
