Would You Rather Be Too Hot Or Too Cold?

With the climate change crisis, we are getting extreme weather. We experienced record high temperatures in October here. I don't know if in winter we get record low temperatures. When I was young, I didn't mind very cold weather. As I get older, I don’t like cold weather. It seems to take me a long time to get warm, especially my hands and feet. Most of the apartments in Hong Kong do not have built-in heating systems. We only use portable ones. When the weather is extremely cold, the portable heater is not good enough to warm up the room. And the malls here do not have indoor heat. If we experience extreme weather, I'd rather be too hot than too cold because in extreme heat, I can always stay indoor where it is air conditioned and get cool. Would you rather be too hot or too cold?

I'd rather be too cold. I can always put on more clothes but if I'm too hot, I can only peel down to skin.

I've experienced exceptionally cold weather here a few years ago. Even with the portable heater on, I still couldn't sleep.

Too cold as you can always put on a sweater, too hot is just miserable and nothing you can do.

I like winter. We have just 3-4 months of it here. I have summer when we sweat and whole day whip them with tissue paper.

There is no climate change crisis and no proof of extreme weather any different than 50 years ago. That aside, I'd rather be too hot than too cold.

@Beestring Actually that is not true. The last record temperature was in the 90s. It did not happen this year. But I was happy to come in and comment.

I dont like both of them, but if i have to choose, too hot is good for me, i can stay at home all day with AC ON or just go to the malls with AC ON. How are you today, M?

This is a very difficult choice. But I agree with you and I may also prefer to expereience too hot weather rather than too cold one.

Several years ago, the temperature in winter here once dropped to 2 degree. I couldn't sleep even with the portable heater on.

I'd rather be too hot. I grew up and still live in an area where we can experience very high temperatures . . . I actually tolerate this. We do not have extreme coldness here . . . but my body dislikes what we consider to be cold.

@Beestring Almost all people around here do during those hot days . . . they say we cannot live without the AC. However our family does not . . . we are more about managing the house without using it (opening windows and closing blinds at certain times).

If it is too hot, we can stay indoors and AC will help If it is too cold, we can put on layers of clothing , some would use heating system. Both too expensive. I would rather choose, too cold.

@Beestring that's correct. It is not efficient snd it is costly.

Actually I hate being too hot and too cold. But if I had to choose I'd choose cold because I can wear layers of clothes to keep warm but too hot and there isn't much you can do. I'm lucky to have both heat and a/c in my home so I can adjust the temperatures.

I see your point. The problem in HK is the indoor heating system is inefficient. I wear a lot of clothes but still feel cold if the temperature is very low. A/C here has no problem which is why I prefer hot weather. At least I can stay indoor and get cool with the a/c on.

My muscles seem to tense up and get sore if I get too cold. But I don't like being too hot either! As long as I have air-conditioning I'd prefer hot weather.

Same here. The air-conditioning system is efficient here, but not the indoor heat system. That's why I prefer hot weather.

I live in Hawaii, so cold is not as other countries. 1948 & 1981, 58° F or 15 C, for Honolulu, Oahu, so no snow. I prefer, our cool temperature of 65-79 ° F or about 18.3 C.

I hate extreme weather. And fortunately I stay in a city that's known for its pleasant weather throughout the year. But if given no choice, I would go for too cold and not too hot. I can layer up and have ways to keep me warm. But heat doesn't go well with me. I fall sick and lose my appetite.

I would rather the weather be too cold, be too cold, because then I can put on a sweater or a coat. When it is too hot then I have to put on a fan or an airconditioner and that costs more money.
