There was such a response to my post about the latest United States legislation concerning prescription prices, that I decided to post a topic about National Health Care.
Several of the members made comments about the National Health Care plan in their countries which was very interesting to see the differences from one country to another. Some had positive things to say....some had negatives.
I have a high school chum that lives in London, England. She has nothing but good things to say about their National Health Care plan and never has to wait long to be taken care of.
Whether you live in a country with National Health Care or not, what do you think? What is your health plan in your country? If you are in the US, how do you feel about National Health Care? If you are on Medicare, do you have any type of supplemental insurance?
Let's start the discussion!

@LindaOHio You know, even here people complain. Those always healthy are not happy to be obliged to have an insurance, but it's the only way to have the system working.

Thank you for your comments. I have a feeling our government would screw it up anyway.

Although I think everyone should have affordable access to healthcare, I am opposed to having a national healthcare plan. I think we should keep our current system and just find ways to make it affordable to the masses.

@LindaOHio Of course they’re not capable. Too much politics and red tape. Plus, they really have no clue what it would take to fix it.

That's a big job. I don't know that our government is capable of doing that!

Our national health care is not as good as other countries, and it's minimal, it's like you're just getting what you have previously paid for. and you still have to shoulder the major expenses.
It's a sad reality that we have to cope with.

NO. The government can’t run anything, only ruin it.
I have two suggestions for anyone who thinks they want those morons in Washington in charge:
1. Go to a VA hospital and follow a veteran around. You’ll get frustrated and leave long before he/she does.
2. Just look at how the government has handled national retirement (“social security”).

From what I've heard about your health care, ours is really good. I guess the only drawback here is that, if you don't have private health care, then you might have to wait for some procedures such as hip or knee replacements. Our private insurance companies are not tied to specific doctors, hospitals, practices, etc.

One thing I always hear about with National Health Care is the long wait for surgeries or complicated treatments. I do think our government should try to make prescription plans affordable for all, but to have them run healthcare would be a disaster and only make our system worse in my opinion. For example, the government could not even roll out Obamacare smoothly. With the people being elected to Congress these days who have no experience running anything, I think that would not be a wise decision.

Did you see my post about the new law regarding prescription costs? A little bit of light in a dark world!!! It just might work. I think our government would probably mess up National Health Care. You are right.

@LindaOHio I know Trump tried to address this problem which seems to have supports from both Dems and Republicans. I'll have to look for you post. Thanks!

I think that a good plan would be wonderful but, who is to say that we vote on it and then find it isn't a good plan? Do we have to stick with something that doesn't work well? I guess what I am saying is that once we vote for it will we really like it?

My country offers coverage of 500000 INR to poor, rest of us have to buy. The poor may drink, or eat unhealthy ..but they get covered for many diseases like cancer. I feel it is discriminatory. We all should have that much coverage...each and every citizen.

That's what they tried to do with the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

I would be willing to pay higher taxes; but our health plan is pretty good. We have a Medicare Advantage PPO plan.

In our country we don't have any National Health Care for the common man. We have to do our own Health insurance.

For me it is a big fat no. The only reason any of the other countries even have any health care worth having for free is directly due to all of the medical advancements that have been made through the incentive of profit. Had we never had any "for profit" health care anywhere in the world, we'd still be in the stone ages when it comes to medical care and life spans would be back to 50 years.
I want the government to stay well and clear of my personal medical needs, end of story. lol

Everyone should have insurance. I would not mind an increase in taxes for that.
