Another quirky creation

We arrived home from our house-sit about an hour ago. The owners arrived in the wee hours of the morning after a flight from Queensland then a three-hour drive home. We left a light on for them and went to bed. This morning we caught up with their news. We had had a calendar printed for them with photos of birds, flowers and scenes from their property. Although we weren’t paid for house-sitting they gave a very generous gift of some bottles of wine. On the way home, we visited some friends who now have two of our pet sheep. The lady had made this wonderful boot scraper from bits and pieces of metal. There are some railway ‘dogs’, a (horse) shoeing rasp, and some spanners, among other things.

Uhm... I think you're mistaken... I've seen things like your new boot scraper before when someone left tools lying in a puddle and they rusted together. It looks really good. She did a good job with it.

A nice feature! I've given away quite a lot of old tools and now I'm wondering whether I should have kept them - especially as I've inherited what I'm told is a spot welder!

This lady learnt to weld and now does quite a bit. Here is one of her early efforts. And don't give away any more old tools!!!

When people come in from being outside, perhaps in some mud, they need to scrape their shoes/boots on a boot scraper to get the mud off.

@rebelann We were only there for about half an hour. If we were able to house-sit, I'd have dozens of photos. There was so much that was interesting in that house.

That is a good way of using up some scrap, but I am afraid that I would walk across barefoot, probably more then once. I also think that it would bother me and I would be constantly bending over to pick up this or that, when in fact, they are part of the unit.

Well it is a nice way to recycle old tools, I would not place on the pathway, the rust stains and it's hard to remove.

@JudyEv Rust is hard to remove. I forgot a tin of painting outside and I am still trying to remove the last trace of rust from the pavement.

What a thoughtful gift they gave, wow. Will there be a subsequent house sitting in the near future? It has probably been a while since you were moving from house to house, which is thrilling since you get to see a lot of various things on each one's land.

I didn’t know you owned any sheep? I absolutely love that boot scraper. I wonder if she welded it to keep them together. Not to far from me while I was geocaching one day I saw someone made a gate for their driveway entrance that was similar to this. It was really neat. Mostly gears if I remember right.

Another piece of imaginative work! However, I am not clear how all the tools above can act as Boot Scraper. The above look like a lot of Tools for doing multiple things.

The tools are mostly obsolete now. If you wipe muddy boots on this, most of the mud and dirt would come off.
