I wrote all bar two of my Christmas cards yesterday. There is about 23 or 24. I wrote letters to go in half a dozen. It’s the only contact I have with these people each year. We need to get the fairy lights out of the cupboard and up along the front of the house. If we don’t do it soon, we’ll be the only ones in the village without our lights up and that would never do. I also need to make my wreath for the door. Then, in about half an hour, at 4.00pm, we’re travelling by bus to Mandurah, having pizza for dinner then boarding a boat for a tour of the canals where many of the houses go overboard with their decorations. We’ll wear masks on the boat but hopefully we’ll manage to stay safe. The photo is from a similar trip a few years ago. It's a pity it's not a bit clearer.

I remember a lighted boats parade years ago in the United States and it was beautiful. This year we have been asked not to hang outdoors Christmas light, we have to conserve electricity because of the Russian situation.

@JudyEv They also plan to turn off the street lights from 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. and to reduce the number of hours the stores keep open. The situation here in Europe is worse than what the media report outside Europe.

@LadyDuck We haven't heard about any of this on our news. It's not good news at all.

Oh, really? I hadn't thought of that aspect. We are lucky in that respect (at the moment).

@Ronrybs Haha - and that happens pretty often too. At least, you hadn't got round to buying new ones.

@judyev that ought to be a fanciful tour. Hope you enjoy it and the pizza. No point is sending cards because we’re going to have postal strikes coming up to Christmas. Ambos are also on strike. Maybe I’ll go on strike too but I don’t think that would be noticed.

Sounds like fun, enjoy! You've got a lot of Christmas things to do! I'm done, for small decorating, 1 light to twirl around my Tiny Crochet Tree and done. I'm getting my seasonal foods....

@oahuwriter We took the massager back. It had been opened and it made a clunking sound when you used it. Vince found it too hard on his back so, as it shouldn't make a noise anyway, we took it back and got our money back.

We got a few more things finished off this morning, mainly errands that needed to be done. We picked up some tablets, bought a joint Christmas present of a back massager and picked up a gift voucher for the couple who are having such a tough time of it - the ones we did the paving for.

Haha - you're quite right really but some of the houses are absolutely huge - and they smother them with all these lights.

I wish I had some decorations to put on the outdoor trees but with the way the winds blow that would only cause everything to blow away. I love your photo, it's very cheerful and christmasy.

Fiacre just told me about the strike. We've posted one to England and one to Ireland but maybe they won't make it for Christmas. Oh well, there are worse things happen at sea as they say.
