For Christmas, we gave our niece a coffee mug which had comical musical definitions on it. It went from A-Z but some were funnier than others. I thought I’d share the best of them with you all. Of course, these are only the funniest in my opinion but them’s the breaks, as they say. Agitato – common mental state of musicians before going on stage Bach’s organ works – the proof being his 20 children Double Flat – hopeless situation, unless you have two spare wheels Elevator music – music for bringing you down G-string – essential component in vaudeville shows Humdrum – mediocre drummer Interval – often the high spot of the evening Ornament – bust of Beethoven on the piano lid Perfect pitch – the ability to throw a banjo into a skip bin from 30 feet Relative minor – distant cousin Telemann – couch potato Whirligig – engagement lasting less than half an hour Xylophone – the dinosaur of the percussion family I hope you get a smile from these.
