I'm giving it a rest

This is what I've been working on for quite a while now. I stop and start and stop again. Can't remember when I started it but it was before last summer. And it's not "done" yet. There are another 12 pages of pattern to go, with each page amounting to just over 200 stitches. Does it look odd like this? The blank part at the bottom amounts to 6 pages of pattern, then there'd be about that much more to do for the last 6 pages. But I'm wondering if I should finish it. Those last 12 pages are just mountain and greenery.

If you're tired of working on it, then it looks nice the way it is. If you're just asking to be asking our opinion, then it still looks very nice already. I would have thought it was already done if you hadn't said there was still more to go.

That's beautiful. I'm not into stitchery but I admire those who do it.

Gosh that's an awful lot of detailed work! I don't think I would have the time or patience for that!

Well, I find it promotes patience, and I've come across other cross-stitchers say the same thing.

@BarBaraPrz I'd want it as it is. How long until you will "complete" it?

@TheHorse Depends on if/when I get back to it. I started it in '21 but didn't work on it much in the summers.

I have pain, too, but I thoroughly enjoy doing this, so I don't notice it. Same when I'm gardening.

Your needlepoint looks very pretty and I also thought it was finished. Looks like it would take a lot of time to accomplish that project since it has a lot of detail. I can see why your stop and start. Are you going to frame it and hang it?

It's cross-stitch, actually, done with cotton thread. Needlepoint is done with wool. It's rather large, and to have it professionally matted and framed would cost a couple hundred dollars, so I don't know if I will.

@BarBaraPrz sorry about the mistake of saying needlepoint instead of cross stitch. Its really beautiful. Sounds like it would be expensive to have it professionally matted and framed but it's definitely a work of art. Hope one day you'll have it on display so it can be admired
