Birds On A Rainy Sunday

Went to bed with the sound of rain and woke up with the rain as well. All gone now, but has been a cloudy Sunday. Still has been a great day. The birds in my collage, along with many more, have visited the backyard feeders. Even in the rain they visit.
The male red cardinal is a favorite. They always remind me of my Dad. His favorite bird. The female is beside him and Ivar, the woodpecker visited the peanut feeder as well. Many times actually. I have been out twice to fill the feeders. The suet feeders in the yard as well.
My neighbor visited earlier and we shared coffee. She was updating me on her daughters in college. They are doing well. Her husband's job is cutting back on his hours starting next week unfortunately. He is looking for a new job. Thankfully she continues her job at home. This trend is happening in many places. Funny how some employers cannot find enough workers. And others are cutting back.
I wish them the best. And everyone else as well. The inflation and bad economy we are experiencing doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. We can keep hoping for better days.

Birds do not get affected by rain and I have seen them frolicking around.

Lovely photos. The cardinals are lovely birds. Some say the are around when angels are near.

@CarolDM I tend to think so. I wonder where that got started.

@FayeHazel I looked it up and found this...
The first link between cardinals and otherworldly beings is found in Native American cultures. Tribes that lived in areas with cardinals had many myths involving these bright birds. Cherokees believed that the cardinal was a representation of the Sun’s daughter. While other tribes thought of the cardinal as a sign of luck or romance.

Same here. They are usually the first and the last at the feeder. They come very early before the other birds and are the last, when the other birds have left. But this time of year I often see them during the day, in between the blue jays.

We all are hoping for the better days.
The Russia-Ukraine war hasn't ended.
There has been a devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.
Political parties seem to be touching new lows in civility in countries as diverse in US and India!
Anyways, I enjoyed the pictures.
So your father was very fond of Male red cardinal?
Somehow all these 3 birds look Royal and awesome!
Did Dude and Brendel tried to have a look at these birds?
Have a nice Thursday and the days ahead!

The Ukranian war should not be our problem, but of course I wish them well. And very heartbreaking about the earthquake. Thoughts are with all of them.
Don't even get me started on politics.
Glad you enjoyed my birds. So many different ones visit the backyard. Yes, my cats watch from the windows and screen room every day. Enjoy your day too.

What a difference between the male and female cardinals. I thought all cardinals were red like the male.
The economy really is taking it's toll isn't it. Prices are rising every day it seems and it's just getting tougher and tougher. I hope your neighbors husband can find another job

@CarolDM I certainly wouldn't have realized that female was a cardinal. I always look for the red and I bet it is gorgeous in the snow.
I think we're stuck with this economy for awhile until the next election.

@Marilynda1225 The females are very subtle. This is the case with many other birds as well. And yes, until the administration changes, nothing else changes unfortunately.

Yes there is a huge difference. You should see the male in the snow, stunning. The females are often mistaken for other birds. Yes and some of these prices could be lowered if only the administration would do its job. Oh well. Thank you Marilyn.

We had rain most of yesterday which was odd because we were only supposed to have it in the late afternoon.
Love the bird collage.
I will say a prayer for your neighbors. The path this country is on makes me happy I am as old as I am, and I won't be around to see how much worse it can get.
