Chicken soup, and orange juice

I have a sore throat, and a headache. Hope it is not the newest version of that pesky virus.I do not have a fever or chills. My throat is sore enough that coffee felt bad going down. Then I remembered I had some chicken noodle soup my sister had bought. It was her cure for most everything. I also drank some orange juice, in spite of the burn. I sent hubby to the bedroom to find a Cepacol lozenge. No such luck. Instead he brought me a Dove dark chocolate heart. Popped it in my mouth, wrapped up in a blanket and sat in a cozy chair beside him, while he was reading. So I got an extra nap. I had slept nine hours last night without waking. There are many things I want and need to do here at home, in spite of my symptoms. I will go to church, but wear a mask and not shake hands tomorrow. We have to go pick up prescriptions in that town, so we had best go. I think I have some elderberry syrup in the fridge. I will do that remedy next.

I've read repeatedly on this site that people have chicken soup when they're ill. I wonder why? What do chickens have that cures colds and sore throats?

Chicken broth and chicken soup help give the body nutrients and vitamins the body needs while fighting off an illness. "When cooked, chicken broth helps sooth the body with heat, hydration, and nutrients. Chicken broth is rich with vitamins and minerals, which are useful against common ailments like the common cold, the flu, and food poisoning. The broth also provides several other notable health benefits, such as: Weight management." Excerpt taken from:

I hope your ailment is not a new strain of the 'pesky virus'. Good luck with that. Hope the elderberry syrup helps.

Well, without a fever, I am reasonably certain it is not, but you never know unless you test.

I feel a bit like a whiner. I am not really sick enough to worry about, just enough to be uncomfortable.

Colds and viruses usually last a week to ten days, so I am well on my way. I first got the sore throat Wednesday evening. Not bad then but it has gotten a bit worse. Today, Sunday, I took a nap.

If you don't feel well, you can also consider to take a pill and it will be helpful. Of course natural food will be good for you but it will spend some time to work. I hope you will get well soon.

I was not consistent with it. The sore throat eventually went away but now it acts like I have a sinus infection.
