Same old, same old

I made another walnut and banana cake today. I haven’t made one for a while but there were some bananas that needed to be used so I made a cake. I took a new photo but the cake is more or less exactly the same as the one I made before. In other news, the piano tuner is coming in the morning. The piano hasn’t been tuned since we came here so it’s well and truly due. I guess he’ll have a computerised gadget to help him tune the strings but maybe he’ll be ‘old school’ and depend solely on his ear.

I just baked the base to prepare an hazelnut Swiss roll. This is something I often make because we both like. This is a photo I made of the one I prepared for New Year.

I want to do some baking, but I am not able to bring myself to do it. This morning I tried two dishes...they turned out ok...I'd say 60 to 70 percent....somewhere there. I need to refine my cooking skills...but the fact that I am going to land in old age home does make me feel what for...

I really only made this because I didn't want to waste the bananas. I was brought up not to waste food. It's a hard habit to break, not that I really want to.

I hope you ask him. I have heard that the bass notes are sometimes tuned a few cents low and the treble notes a few sense high to sound right. If he's experienced enough, the ear could "trump" (no disgust intended) the gadget.

Vince plays by ear and I play by music but I rarely touch it nowadays. I'm sure you enjoy playing drums and guitar. Vince used to play drums in a dance band many moons ago.

Mmm, looks good! I haven't made banana bread in ages. The rest of my family are not keen, and anyway we rarely have bananas long enough to get to that slightly over-ripe stage, because I eat them all!

@JudyEv That's great to save the old ones. Roberta Flack, one of my favorite singers started out on a discarded piano her dad broguht home. Sadly, now 85, she has ALS and can no longer sing or even speak.

I think maybe most of the use some sort of software now, even the older guys. Maybe it just gives them peace of mind. This guy would be late 50s at least and has over 50 pianos in a warehouse. He keeps picking up old pianos that he doesn't want to see go to the tip or whatever.
