A new virus?!

Good evening friends I don't get to be active here, but tonight I will make some time for you all. I hope you are thinking of me. Today I spent the whole day going from doctor to doctor. More precisely, my son has developed a high fever and nothing can bring it down. A couple of days ago he had a sore throat and that went away and then suddenly yesterday he started coughing. This morning when he was supposed to go to work, he couldn't get up because he had a high temperature and a headache. We went to the doctor, but they immediately sent him to be tested for covid. The tests are negative, so he was given an antibiotic, but the temperature does not go down. Around 5 pm he had a temperature of 39.2, drank something to bring it down, but now it's 7:15 pm and the temperature is still high at 38.8. I know that for several months people have been saying that there is some virus that is so strong that it is hard to bear it. It is accompanied by high fever, cough and muscle pain. Is there this new virus in your country?

I noticed you haven't been on myLot but life gets in the way of fun all the time. I hope your son feels better soon. Covid is definitely still making the rounds here in the US (even though people claim it's not *sigh*), Monkey pox (Mpox) has a foothold here and the flu virus is in full swing now. I don't pay a lot of attention to the news so who knows what else is here now...

@Nevena83 I think Mother Nature is finally stepping in and thinning out humanity. Humanity just keeps blocking her efforts so she keeps trying new things. I believe she'll win in the end.

Thank you. They say that this new virus lasts a long time, or rather its symptoms. Honestly, there are many theories here. One of them is that "someone" is constantly poisoning us with new viruses. What do you think about that?

@DaddyEvil I absolutely agree with you. I definitely think like you. I believe that there is a lot of evil and that it must be cleansed in some way. And I believe that earthquakes are one of those ways.

I know that the flu is around right now and our doctor told us that it is pretty bad right now. I hope your son will feel better soon.

@Nevena83 - I am glad he feels better. Did the doctor suggest something for the high temperature?

@LadyDuck No, nothing concrete, anything to knock down. He received an antibiotic, so yesterday they changed him to another, allegedly stronger one.

Sorry to know about your son. Hope he gets well soon. I have not heard of any new viruses in the news. But we very well know that many new kinds of virus are out there in the air and they are really nasty

Thank you, I believe he will, he is young. But I have to admit that he never felt like this. He has always handled every illness without any problems, but this is the first time that it really knocked him down.

@thebos I do not know. Many are saying that it may be just a seasonal flu, but it is too strong. We don't even talk about the corona here anymore.

I haven't heard about it, because here all the media are silent about it. It is very strange that all the people got sick. This was not the case with covid either.

@JudyEv Fortunately, it was short lived, but I was scared. I think the reason was the high temperature.

The high temperature exhausts him. Yesterday he says that his heart wanted to jump out of his chest because it was beating so hard.

Thank you. Yes, you're right, it might be the flu. The problem is that doctors don't know either. And as far as I've noticed, everyone gets the same therapy.

Antibiotics don't work on a virus. Medications for a virus are antivirals. I'm not aware of any new virus.

I did not know that. My son is 20 years old and this is the first time he has taken any antibiotics. I don't think he would have gone to the doctor this time either, but he had to because of his job.
