Problems, Problems

Ooh, that irks me!
I am once again traveling for work. Well, sort of. Thing is, I have run into a bit of an issue with the company truck which is causing me a sudden hiccup and headache or two three or five.
A DEF system warning that is causing me problems. That's diesel exhaust fluid if you wanted to know. Something that helps "clean" the diesel exhaust.
Basically it says, "Service exhaust fluid system: See owner's manual now!: 'X' amount of miles until speed is limited to 65 mph."
It limited me. Then it reset and let me drive as fast as I want. Basically, if the warning stays permanent, it will limit me another 10 mph less every 100 miles or so.
So, I either have to take it in or limp back home. Chatting with the boss to see what he wants to do.
I am hoping he tells me to try to limp back to the office because that would be far more convenient than having to be stuck in a hotel for however long it might take to figure this out.
Ugh. Wish me luck!

Hope you were able to sort things out with the truck.

@lovebuglena Nothing. Apparently it is just an idiot light that keeps popping on no matter what we do.

Yep. We were. $3800 later it was all done and I was able to finally get back home—although the whole trip was pretty much ruined. Oh well. Incidentally, everything was fine until I got to Springfield, IL and then the engine light came back on. Ugh.

@porwest I´m glad you could take care of it. Some people just freak out when things like this happen.

I guess on the bright side they have to pay me for my time and my troubles, and I get reimbursed for whatever I have to do. Looks like I may try to rent a car tomorrow. But I do have the current hotel for one more night and cancelled the ones in Eau Claire and Dewitt.

@porwest That's still better than most people who only get an hourly wage. I'm sure you'll survive and find someone to torment along the way.
I hope you've had a good day.

It can be so stressful when vehicles break down on the road. Been there, done that, NOT fun! But I am glad for you that you have a warm, dry place to sleep, and can get a rental car, that's a good thing.
Drive safely!

No. Not in this case. I am reliant on either a loaner or a rental. But they do pay my expenses. It turned out that the dealership I took the truck to for repair was able to offer me a rental. I think it was more of a loaner though since it looks like they did not charge me for it.

@TheHorse It worked out way better than I expected, and the process was seamless. I was able to drive the truck off the lot where I dropped the company truck off, and return it right back to the same place where I picked it up.
I could not have asked for more honestly.

Ultimately the decision was made to have Holz do the work and I had to extend my stay at the Americinn here in Delafield to a Friday check out. Supposedly the truck should be ready Friday morning and I can turn in the rental and head back home.

I never use that diesel exhaust fluid to clean the diesel exhaust. Every year I have to have our family service van to test its belching for reregistration of the vehicle for it's a requirement.
It's good it had passed. By the way, what brand us diesel exhaust fluid?
